Love Is Blind producer addresses glaring continuity error with Giannina’s wedding dress – The Sun

ONE of 2020's greatest mysteries has been solved as a Love Is Blind producer has explained exactly what happened to the now you see it, now you don't mud patch on Giannina Gibelli's wedding dress.

Viewers of Netflix's reality dating show were left baffled when a mud stain on her wedding dress disappeared when she returned to the altar after doing a runner from her husband-to-be, Damian Powers.

Giannina, 26, ran away from Damian, 27, after deciding she couldn't say "I do" and managed to slip down a hill leaving her white wedding dress covered in mud.

Then later in the episode, when she decided to come back, the mud stain was nowhere to be seen.

"Okay so Gianina fell and ruined her dress but next scene she comes back to talk to Damian and it looks brand new?" one confused viewer asked at the time.

Thankfully, Love Is Blind producer Chris Coelen has stepped in to clear up the mystery.

As it turns out, Giannina's mum swooped in to save the day and cleaned up the dress while her daughter was figuring out what to do about her wedding.

"What you see, and what we’re able to show on the show is a condensed version of what happened," Chris told Metro.

"The run out of the venue, down that driveway, out into the parking lot next door… No one expected that."

Chris added: "She was out there for half an hour with her mum in that parking lot. 45 minutes, maybe even an hour, that’s a long time.

"She then came back to the venue, they went up to Gigi’s bridal quarters.

"You’ll notice when Damian and Gigi reunite in that scene, all the chairs are packed up. All of the guests are there, and all of the chairs, when she’s running out. The guests were basically stunned, piling out.

The producer went on to explain: "Gigi comes back and in that ballroom, all the chairs are put away, everything’s off to the side, everything has been cleaned. It’s a couple hours later, it wasn’t instantaneous.

"She went back into the house with her mum, she was stewing, steaming and destroyed emotionally," he continued.

"Her mum, as you can tell, is this caretaker type person. She and her mum were upstairs in the bridal suite, her mum is cleaning her up."

Chris also explained why fans of the show didn't get to see Giannina confront Damian after running away.

"There was incredible footage with Gigi and her mum, Damien and his friends, incredible stuff that we didn’t have time to show on the show," he said.

"We could have done a three-hour special just on the Gigi and Damian wedding, truly. We only have so much time to tell a story. I love that people have been curious about all the little details."

The episode's dramas didn't end there – Damian ended up ditching Giannina at the altar, but the pair revealed they subsequently coupled up again.

They confirmed they were back in a relationship again during the recent reunion special.

Giannina took to social media to describe their relationship: "Our love story hasn’t been the typical love-at-first sight-happy-ending and I wouldn’t trade every minute spent together for the world, no matter how tough it got.

"This is us and I want to thank you so much for following our journey, it’s only just begun".

The couple's relationship was volatile during the show and Damian left Giannina heartbroken when he ditched her at the altar.

"Looking back I respect his decision, I feel like where we are now, it’s so right for us," Giannina said in the reunion special.

"Where we can just date and he has his own place and I have my own place and we’re getting to know each other at our own pace. It’s so refreshing."

The show became a global smash with its unique approach, which sees couples kept in separate pods while they date, and they aren't allowed to meet until they fall in love and get engaged.

Not all couples who fell in love got to share their story on the show, including Lexie Skipper who got engaged to Westley Baer, only to be axed from the show.

Love is Blind was such a hit worldwide that there are hopes it will come to the UK, with Coelen admitting he'd love to make it happen.
