Love Island star Tyrique Hyde is one of ten singletons heading to the iconic ITV2 villa this summer in order to find love.
The semi-professional footballer, 24, from Essex is hoping to find love in the Love Island villa this summer after previously never having a girlfriend before.
Luckily for Tyrique, he's had some valuable advice ahead of his villa debut as one of his best friends is former Islander, Toby Aromolaran, who appeared on the ITV2 show in 2021.
Speaking to press, including OK!, Tyrique said: "I had a conversation with Toby before I went, obviously he is my close friend.
"He literally just said to me: 'Listen bro, just be yourself because if you're not yourself, people are going to see through if you're trying to be something you're not.
"Just literally be yourself and people will like it and you'll smash it.
"In regards to dos and don'ts, we didn't really go into that much detail. You know because I didn't want to ruin the experience for myself.
"Obviously, he had his experience, I had my experience and I didn't want to go in there with expectations. I just want to sort of go with the flow and just let it flow without actually knowing what's going on so it wasn't really that detailed, he just said: 'Be yourself!'"
Asked if he'd like to get as far as Toby on the show – Toby finished as a runner-up alongside now ex Chloe Burrows, Tyrique said: "Yeah, of course!
"That's always the aim on Love Island. I'd like to last as long as he did!"
And it's not just former Love Islander Toby that Tyrique knows, he also knows Aaron Simpson, who was also on the ITV2 show in 2021.
Tyrique said: "I played for the same team as Aaron Simpson when he came out of Love Island. So I also know Aaron Simpson, he was on Toby's season as it goes.
"He came in at the end as a bombshell, so yeah, I know him as well!"
Love Island starts on Monday 5 June at 9pm on ITV2.
