What happened to The Goddess/Charlotte Richards In Lucifer?
Helfer starred as Charlotte Richards and The Goddess in Lucifer seasons two and three.
The Goddess is Lucifer’s mother and God’s (Dennis Haysbert) ex-wife, who had been banished from heaven to hell due to her increasing hatred for mankind.
When Lucifer decided to live the rest of his life on Earth, the Goddess soon followed, assuming the identity of deceased attorney Charlotte Richards.
As Charlotte, The Goddess got particularly close to Detective Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro) much to Lucifer’s annoyance and throughout season four, Dan struggled to deal with the loss of Charlotte.
Unhappy with her life on Earth, The Goddess as Charlotte Richards wreaked havoc, attacking Lucifer’s friend Linda Martin (Rachel Harris) and threatening to kill everybody on Santa Monica Pier, not to mention Lucifer’s love interest, Chloe Decker (Lauren German).
In the end, Lucifer used his power of the flaming sword and sent his mother into the void to create a new universe and life for herself, to which she agreed.
However, before she left Earth behind, the Goddess gave her human host a new lease of life.
Sadly, things took a tragic turn for Charlotte Richards at the end of Lucier season three.
She was accidentally killed by Lieutenant Marcus Pierce/Cain (Tom Welling) after she sacrificed herself to save Amenadiel (DB Woodside).
At the moment it remains unknown how exactly Helfer will return as The Goddess and/or Charlotte Richards.
With Lucifer’s father – God – making his debut in season five, things could become interesting if he crosses paths with his ex-wife.

“I’m getting to play in a different costume and different style, so it’s been really fun.”
“I think it’s gonna surprise the fans because it is really a departure.
“I will say, what Kevin Alejandro is doing on this episode is just fantastic, it’s amazing. It’s going to be really really funny, I think.”
