Tom Ellis, who plays Lucifer Morningstar in the series, recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight about what fans can expect in the last ever series. He even revealed the entire cast will travel back in time. Joining him in the interview were fellow cast members Lauren German, DB Woodside and Aimee Garcia who also spoke about what is in store for their characters in the episode.
What will happen in the Lucifer 1940s episode?
Tom Ellis confirmed to Entertainment Tonight (ET) earlier this week the fourth episode of season five will be set in an alternative universe.
Episode four, titled It Never Ends Well For the Chicken will be filmed entirely in black and white and will be set in the 1940s.
When the episode title was confirmed in October by the Lucifer’s Writer’s Room Twitter account, fans began to analyse what the episode title would mean for the show’s plot.
The biggest fan theory is that as the chicken has something to do with Ella (played by Aimee Garcia) finding out about Lucifer’s (Tom Ellis) true identity.

Ella owns a chicken named Maragaret and fans think the chicken may be used by Lucifer, to tell the truth about his devil face.
There are numerous theories but for now, none of them seems to tie to the 1940s, so Lucifer fans will have to wait untIl Spring 2020 to find out why.
Ellis even revealed the episode will feature special musical performances from him and Lesley-Ann Brandt, who plays the demon Maze in the show.
However, he did not give any details away on what song they would be singing.
He said: “It’s always fun to film the music stuff, you know? It’s been a really nice element to the show that came in season one and [we’ve] sort of run with it since. But the nice thing is it’s not just Lucifer who sings these days.”

Speaking to ET, Brandt teased the episode represents a “full-circle moment“ for Lucifer and Maze’s friendship and will also explain to fans why Maze is exactly the way she is.
Maze is a close friend and former lover of Lucifer Morningstar and even helped him cut off his angel wings when he arrived on Earth.
Maze also got close to Lucifer’s brother Amenadiel (DB Woodside) and even sacrificed her chance to return to hell to save him.
Unable to return to hell, Maze became a bounty hunter for the LAPD in season two and has been ever since.
Brandt said: “The storyline is really the genesis of the Maze that fans have come to know and love, but we track it back to its origin point and how the relationship between Maze and Lucifer was really forged and why she would help, you know?”

Lauren German who plays Chloe Decker revealed the characters will be playing alter ego versions of their characters but confirmed her character will be taking a back seat in the episode.
She said: “None of us are playing our characters which is really, really fun.
“Everyone has a really different take on what they normally do — the language, the speaking, the look, the costumes. Wardrobe, hair and makeup just killed it. It’s also fun seeing the cast doing something so different.“
Aimee Garcia who plays forensic scientist Ella Lopez revealed her happy-go-lucky character will be doing a complete “180” turn in the fourth episode, describing her character in the episode as “unrecognisable.”
DB Woodside who stars as Lucifer’s brother Amenadiel revealed that his costumes for the episode are “completely outrageous.”
He added: “You are going to see DB as Amenadiel physically playing something that we have not seen on this show yet.“
