There’s a lovely piece of news for Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb) in upcoming Emmerdale episodes. The farmer hasn’t had a huge amount to smile about recently as she’s struggled to keep her business afloat financially following the damage done to it by Caleb (William Ash), so she deserves something nice to look forward to.
She’s delighted when her brother Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) tells her that he and Chloe (Jessie Elland) are planning to have baby Reuben christened, and they would like her to be the little boy’s godmother. An emotional Moira is delighted to accept.
Meanwhile Chloe asks Matty (Ash Palmisciano) and Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) to be the baby’s other godparents and everything is set for a happy family occasion.
Predictably, there’s a twist. It comes about after the venue they’d booked falls through and Charity (Emma Atkins) offers the Woolpack as an alternative. Chloe laughs the idea off, but they realise it’s the only sensible option, so Mack goes to talk to Charity about it.
As they talk they become emotional about their situation, one thing leads to another – and they end up sleeping together.
As Charity begins to wonder if there could be hope for her and Mack’s relationship after all, Mack heads home to Chloe, who’s grateful that he sorted out the christening venue.
Wracked by guilt, he heads to Butlers to see Moira and takes the shine off her excitement over being a godparent by telling her what he’s done. Worried for him, Moira advises him that if he tells Chloe about what happened he could risk losing Reuben for good.
But as Mackenzie is once again torn between Chloe and Charity, will he decide that’s a price he’s prepared to pay?
