Discussing her everyday fitness and diet, Gemma explained: “I wouldn’t say there has been major struggles when it comes to my weight, its more everyday fitness things.

“I’ll be honest and say I can’t stand the gym. I’m more of an outdoorsy girl, swimming, walking, bike riding – I need to be motivated by nature when I’m exercising.

“I am quite fit, don’t get me wrong I can’t run a marathon, but I certainly think I could walk one.

“I choose to be healthy.”

It all came about after she received a “sign,” while on holiday in Dubai a few years ago.

The glam 42-year-old explained: “A few years ago, I was in Dubai and I believe things happen for a reason.

“This guy came up to me out of nowhere tapped me on the shoulder and said, ‘you need to stop eating meat, you need to stop eating meat.’

“I believe that people are messengers in life and at the time it really was a sign. I really believed this was my calling and I needed to stop eating meat.”

Gemma has since embarked on a vegan diet and cut meat out altogether, admitting she’s made the change because she feels “most settled” in life right now.

“I do feel better for cutting meat out of my diet,” she tells us, adding: “I did struggle in the beginning because I was eating things like boiled pasta with cauliflower because I just didn’t know what to do.

“And anyone that is going to go this way, it does take time. And for me it’s been so strange because I don’t seem to have stomach troubles anymore.

“Like when my mum tells me a scallop has two-hundred eyeballs, I do feel really bad about it. But for me, cutting out meat I have to say I don’t carry the negative energy of the animal being killed and I do feel so much better about myself and what I’m doing for the planet and that I am doing good for the animals.”

Gemma has raved about a brand named VFC – a vegan food company which she says has “changed everything.”

“My vegan journey to sum it up has been slow and gradual. However, when you have a product like VFC it makes every day and every mealtime just simply amazing,” the star raved.

She added: “Once you try a product like VFC it is life changing for someone like me who has eaten meat their whole life.

“I just hope that VFC keep on bringing out all my favourite products. I had all my girlfriends round for a movie night the other day and I put some VFC Popcorn Chick*n just on a plate and everyone was going “Oh my God Gemma these are amazing!”

“And I said, ‘girls they’re vegan!’. A lot of my friends now are just so blown away by all these new things that I am showing them that they too are even considering going vegan.”
