CBS has promised one of its biggest TV events ever will be hitting screens next year in the form of the first three-part NCIS crossover. Although the NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: Hawaii teams were promised to meet up with the mainline show in the first week of January, fans were disappointed to learn the network has pushed back the epic midseason premiere.

American viewers have slammed CBS’ decision to delay its NCISverse crossover to the following week.

Rather than airing in three parts the night of Monday, January 2, the three episodes won’t be released until the following Monday.

In a surprising move, episodes of NCIS, NCIS: Hawaii and NCIS: LA will now air back-to-back on Monday, January 9.

All three series will then continue as normal the following week, with NCIS: LA expected to return to its usual Sunday night slot.

However, many fans were crushed to learn they’ll have to wait another whole week before the agents return for their next mission.

Several NCIS enthusiasts retweeted TV Line’s article confirming the news with shocked emojis and protests.

@EarperArmy wrote: “Today has been such a day, and now this?! Ugh.”

@liltree complained: “Ugh, January 2 worked well because I could move my schedule around with the holiday.”

“But now I might only be able to watch the NCIS: Hawaii and NCIS: LA portions.”

@Jessmuir0407 posted a crying emoji and said: “I didn’t work the week of the 2nd and could stay up but I work this week.”

“An extra week’s wait,” @j1m1lurks said. “It’s now 9th January for the #NCISverse crossover.”

“This is the worst day of my life,” @strisalonso added, and later exclaimed: “I DON’T WANNA WAIT ANOTHER WEEK.”

Although Harrison Koonts reasoned: “It’s just a week later. Y’all acting like it was pushed to a month later.”

Thankfully the delay won’t be too extreme, though many fans were clearly looking forward to the crossover falling shortly after Christmas and New Year.

Now the episodes will be airing when most of the USA is back at work, can CBS still expect to pull in the massive ratings boost it’s hoping the crossover will receive?

Regardless, next month’s crossover is still one of the most highly anticipated television events of 2023.

This is the first time the LA team will meet up with the flagship series since G Callen (played by Chris O’Donnell) and Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) appeared in the backdoor pilot.

Plus, Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and the Hawaii team are slowly becoming regular guests on the mainland, as this will make their third appearance on the original NCIS.

The crossover will open with Too Many Cooks for the flagship, followed by NCIS: Hawaii’s Deep Fake and NCIS: LA closing out the event with A Long Time Coming.

The NCISverse crossover event will air Monday, January 9 on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
