NEIGHBOURS' star Kristian Schmid looks completely unrecognisable decades after his shock exit from Aussie hit soap.

The former Ramsey Street star, now 48, was best known for his role as Todd Landers on the long-running soap. 


After almost 40 years, show viewers were left devastated when Channel 5 announced that the beloved show was being axed.

Thankfully for fans, it was announced on Monday, September 18, that the popular sitcom will return to screens with Amazon as the production partner.

Neighbours' launched the careers of Margot Robbie, Liam Hemsworth, Kristian and many other Aussie stars. 

Fan-favourite Kristian signed up for an acting course in Melbourne at the tender age of 12.

After three weeks, a Neighbours casting director came to his school to hold auditions. 

A young Kristian bravely asked to audition and was successfully chosen as Todd Landers, the rest was history.

His first appearance on the show as Todd was in February 1988.

As his storyline progressed, his girlfriend got pregnant, and the two decided to get an abortion.

Todd soon changed his mind and wanted the baby but was hit by a van while going home. 

He was rushed to the hospital but suffered a cardiac arrest before passing away on-screen in July 1992. 

The actor then returned as a spirit in the following episode.

Kristian has most recently been recognised for his work in Home and Away, in 2016 and 2017, appearing as Mick Jennings. 

His character was introduced as the long-lost son of Irene Roberts, whom Lynne McGranger played. 

Viewers soon discovered that Mick was Billie Ashford's rapist, and she gave birth to her baby before dying of cancer.

The star has also notably appeared in the 2002 hit Scooby-Doo movie, which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. 

He has also performed on stage and worked on three different versions of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
