"THE SCARIEST horror movie of the year", The Hole In The Ground, has been added to Netflix – leaving fans terrified.
The Irish film was officially released in March of this year after premiering at Sundance Film Festival but was only added to the online streaming service yesterday.
It has already gone down a treat as viewers flocked to Twitter to heap praise on the scary supernatural flick.
One wrote: "The Hole in the Ground is utterly terrifying. #publicserviceannouncement".
Another added: "Based on a very real and terrifying Irish legend/mythical creature. I give it two jump scares but 2000 hairs standing on end."
A third wrote: "THE HOLE IN THE GROUND is on UK Netflix!
"It's in my top 10 favourite movies this year! Go in blind and trust me, its excellent."
The Hole In The Ground is directed by Lee Cronin and follows a single mum whose young son returns from a forest with increasingly disturbing behaviour – which she suspects is linked to a mysterious sinkhole that has appeared.
The film opened to rave reviews and has an 85% fresh rating on review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.
One critic said at the time: "The Hole In the Ground is an unsettling bout of paranoia that makes for a memorable directorial debut."
Variety heaped praise on the horror's "atmospherics", and Screen Daily revelled in the film's " original, visceral shocks".
It has also been favourably compared to other horror successes, including breakout 2018 hit Hereditary and 2014 classic The Babadook.
