We all knew that Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) was a nasty man, but he sunk to even deeper levels in recent EastEnders scenes as he targeted grieving Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick).
Billy has been going through the worst situation anyone could imagine, as granddaughter Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) is tragically reaching the end of her life.
Lola was diagnosed with a brain tumour last November and her condition has deteriorated significantly in recent weeks.
She is now receiving palliative care at home, though nurse Suzanne informed Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) that she is now in her final few days.
With Billy already struggling to cope with Lola’s condition, his stress only increased further when he learnt that Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) had disappeared from the Square.
Furious that he could abandon daughter Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) at the time she is bound to need him most, Billy stormed out of the café, barging past Nish in the process.
This clearly drew Nish’s attention, as he later arrived in the pub with a gift for Lexi.
He pulled out a teddy bear which he said was for her, as an offer of support, making a dig that it was a shame her father wasn’t around.
Billy declined the gift with a few stern words about how Lexi needs her mum and not a teddy bear.
Later, as Billy was walking through the Square, he overheard Nish and son Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) laughing at a video on Vinny’s phine.
Emotional after a heart to heart with Martin Fowler (James Bye) and still reeling from their earlier confrontation, Billy took their laughter to heart, and stormed towards the Minute Mart with a metal pole.
He went on a grief fuelled rampage, cracking the window of the shop as he cried that they were all just doing their best, including Ben, who had flown to America to find out about drugs trials to prolong Lola’s life.
As Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) attempted to take Billy home, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) promised to settle things with the Panesars, though Nish wasn’t having any of it.
As Nish threw insults around, Billy flew into a rage, completely shattering the front window of the Minute Mart.
Local copper Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) attempted to restrain him, but ended up with an elbow to the face and Nish urging him to arrest Billy for assaulting a police officer.
As Jack battled with his conscience, further reinforcements arrived, leaving Jack with little choice over what to do next.
Is Billy set to spend Lola’s final days in custody?
