Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) daughter was able to enjoy the traditional Scottish wedding in the brand new episode of Outlander. However, even as the whole cast feels the love, there’s trouble in paradise afoot for Starz’ fifth season.
After receiving an order from Governor Tryon (Tim Downie) to kill his fugitive godfather, Jamie’s carefree lifestyle in the family’s idyllic Fraser’s End is gradually unravelling.
However, until the impending American Revolution arrives and forces the homestead to make its toughest decisions so far, the Frasers had plenty of time to relax and celebrate their achievements.
Claire and Jamie’s daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) finally tied the knot with Roger (Richard Rankin), and they enjoyed the day by reminiscing about their own wedding vows.
Although the series will continue its streak of brutally accurate historic reenactments, the stars of the show have promised more romantic scenes with the fan favourite time travelling couple.

Caitriona recently revealed to ET Online: “Old Claire and Jamie are very settled right now. They have their family. They have their forever home — Claire got her Barbie dream house. Yeah, it’s all good things.”
Throughout previous seasons Claire and Jamie’s romance has been put under strain by historical threats, but season five begins with the pair settled down with their family.
ET Online expanded on her comments and revealed that the first four episodes delve deeper into their romance than the series ever has before.
Caitriona continued: “I think it’s a culmination of every season before. You have to earn these moments and you have to get there and I think they are finally in a place where they are settled.”
As with every tried and tested romance plot, Claire and Jamie have experienced their fair share of heartbreak along the way.
The couple have been separated multiple times, most recently when Jamie was sent away after Lord John Grey (David Berry) contracted an illness and was put into quarantine.
She continued: “There was not, really, the time and space to invest as much time in those relationship moments as we do this season, which I think is really important.”
The upcoming season of Outlander is thought to be drawing from two of Diana Gabaldon’s epic instalments of the series, The Fiery Cross and A Breath of Snow and Ashes.

In both novels Claire and Jamie’s respective conflicts will force them apart in the face of overwhelming odds.
However, Caitriona’s comments prove that the series has already sacrificed so much to get them to Fraser’s End, that the first part of season five will give them time to breath and enjoy each other’s company.
As ever with Outlander, there is no such thing as a status quo, and the pair should expect their peaceful homestead to be disrupted very soon.
But fans should not despair, as the interview touched on a potential happily-ever-after for Claire and Jamie when the series eventually comes to an end.
