Dancing on Ice host Phillip Schofield has invited Prime Minister Boris Johnson to take part in the ITV skating show, saying he might soon have some ‘extra time’ to fill in his schedule.
During an interview with OK! and other press outlets ahead of the launch of the new series, Phil, 59, was asked who his dream celebrity contestant would be.
And Phil couldn’t resist making a subtle dig at Boris Johnson, following calls for the PM to resign after he admitted he’d briefly attended a party at No10 Downing Street during the height of the pandemic.
The presenter said: “I think you've got to look for someone who maybe is looking for different career options.”
“Or different things they can do to fill in extra time, so maybe Boris!” Phil, who was also joined by This Morning and Dancing on Ice co-host Holly Willoughby, added.
Mum of three Holly then added fuel to the fire by quipping: “We have great office parties!”
However, Holly, 40, went on to reveal that she’s looking further afield and hoping that ITV bosses can convince US superstar Jennifer Lopez to put on her skates.
Holly said: “I remember last year for the very first time Lady Leshurr came out and did a bit of singing.”
“I quite like that combination of singing and skating, so someone like J-Lo. One of those amazing performances but on the ice.”
She added: “That's what I'd like. Do you think she'll do it, have we asked?!”
Jayne Torvill, who is back on the judging panel alongside skating partner Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and new recruit Oti Mabuse, said she had similarly high hopes.
The 64 year old skating legend said: “I always say David Beckham, but he's probably too busy!
While Strictly star Oti, who is excited to be making her debut on the ice panel, said: “I would like to see Alesha Dixon, I don't know why, I just want to see her come on!”
