PIERS Morgan has called the Government "utterly disgusting" for plans to reinstate parking charges at hospitals for NHS staff.
Last night it was revealed in the i that ministers plan to bring back the charges because funding to cover parking costs "can't continue indefinitely."
NHS workers have been able to park for free at work since the beginning of the lockdown period following a petition signed by 400,000 people.
Speaking on today's Good Morning Britain, Piers fumed: "It seems to me utterly ridiculous that doctors, nurses, surgeons, everyone else in the healthcare system have to pay for the privilege of going to hospitals to save our lives.
"This strikes me as completely ridiculous. And particularly obscene when a global pandemic strikes this country and they're risking their own lives."
He continued: "Utterly disgusting."
Piers then launched a campaign to prevent the charges from returning.
The host said he would like to see the Government make a U-turn by the end of the day.
Earlier this year Piers vowed to pay parking tickets slapped on NHS staff while they were working.
He gave a progress report today, telling viewers he's successfully had 39 tickets overturned, while five councils hadn't replied to his ticket challenges.
However, two tickets had to be paid including a doctor who was on call amid the pandemic.
