The ladies of Real Housewives of New York recently came together to shoot the season 12 reunion special, and the episode could mark the final time fans will see this version of the cast. Bravo is reportedly looking to “shake things up” for season 13, and that could mean a number of new faces and big changes.
‘Real Housewives of New York’ films the season 12 reunion in person
Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit back in March, TV production has essentially ground to a halt. The casts and crews of numerous shows have had to adjust and adapt to the new world of social distancing and safety protocols. All of which has led to a lot of remotely-produced content over the past five months.
According to Daily Dish, the season 12 reunion of Real Housewives of New York was the first Bravo reunion shot in person.
Andy Cohen also gave fans a sneak peek of the reunion on his Instagram Story. He said that it felt great to be “home again,” and he has never been happier to be in a suit in his life.
“Well, this reunion is unlike anything we’ve ever done before. I wish you could see the setup. You’ll see it soon enough,” Andy said. “All protocols being observed. Masks at the ready. Hand sanitizer next to my apple.”
Ramona Singer accuses Elyse Slaine of using her for fame
One of the new faces during season 12 of RHONY was Elyse Slaine, who appeared as a friend of Ramona Singer. For years, Slaine has been running in the same social circles with both current and past cast members.
During a May episode of Us Weekly’s podcast Getting Real with the Housewives, Slain revealed that appearing on RHONY happened by accident, and she never auditioned to be on the show. Now Ramona is now accusing Elyse of using her for fame, and the two women are no longer friends.
Elyse was not part of the season 12 reunion. When a fan asked Ramona on Instagram about Elyse – who they described as a “queen” – Ramona had a surprising response.
“She betrayed me … all she wanted was fame at my expense, not a friendship,” wrote Ramona. She told another fan that the truth will come out eventually because it always does.
Elyse has not spoken publicly about Ramona’s accusations, but her future as a “friend” on the show doesn’t look good.
‘Real Housewives of New York’ needs more diversity claims Leah McSweeney
After shooting her first reunion episode, newbie Leah McSweeney told Page Six that she wants more diversity on Real Housewives of New York in season 13 – and she’s not just talking about race.
“I hope that there’s not only diversity of race but an even deeper diversity of where someone lives or what their interests are,” explained McSweeney. “I hope that there’s just more diversity all across the board because New Yorkers are not a monolith, obviously. I think that it is gonna head in that direction.”
An insider told Us Weekly that Bravo is definitely planning to “shake things up” with RHONY in season 13. A second source added that there will be changes because a “handful of white women” doesn’t necessarily represent New York City and what it is all about.
Luann de Lesseps has also promised that next season “there’s definitely gonna be some new Housewives.”
New episodes of Real Housewives of New York air Thursday nights on Bravo.
