Richard Madeley tells GMB guest image was ‘just a bit of fun’
Richard Madeley found himself in the firing line of Ryan-Mark Parsons as Good Morning Britain discussed whether or not eating alone is sad.
The debate comes after searches for ‘solo dining’ had gone up by a whopping 357 percent in the 12 months from June last year.
As Ryan-Mark spoke about the topic, it was clear the former Apprentice star had strong thoughts on the matter.
He said:” Well, I just think people that do it are pathetic, to be honest with you.
“I think Alex is one of those losers that go to restaurants alone and I think they’re weird. I go to restaurants, I’m always with someone, I’m very social.”

However, his statement wasn’t entirely true as Richard admitted there was evidence of Ryan-Mark eating alone in the past.
As an image was shown of the businessman eating in a fast food restaurant by himself, it was clear he was unimpressed.
Richard commented: “There’s you on your own mate.”
He quipped back: “Right, well I think that’s ridiculous. That is out of context.”

Realising that the guest was getting angry over the image being shown, Richard tried to diffuse the situation.
He said: “It’s just a bit of fun mate, it’s a bit of fun.”
Kate Garraway highlighted as Ryan-Mark was eating at a fast food establishment there could be certain times it’s acceptable to eat alone, with this case being one of them.
However, it seemed as though viewers were outraged by Ryan-Mark’s comments as many slammed The Apprentice star for his views.
@KLGeordiemum commented: “Who cares? The world has moved on and people just need to get a grip and stop with judging everyone on every little thing they do.”
@madebyauntsal added: “No it is not! Get this rude obnoxious man off the TV!”
@KellyBu67731656 tweeted: “No it’s not sad to dine alone, he needs to shut up.”
@Lilly26062173 said: “Who is anyone to say it’s wrong sad or whatever!! If you want to eat alone go ahead and if you’re single so what!!”
Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
