Phillip Schofield has thanks fans for their support as he returns to This Morning after a lengthy break.

The 61-year-old presenter was back on the famous sofa with Rochelle Humes on Monday (April 17).

It is the first time he's been on the ITV daytime show since his brother Timothy Schofield was convinced of sexually abusing a teenager over a three -year period.

Opening the show, Phillip said: 'I'd just like to say, it is really lovely to be back.

"I have missed the show and everyone here and also to you.

"I wanted to say thank you for your kind messages and support which were really appreciated. Thank you very much indeed. On with the show… Shall we?"

Phillip has said he now has no brother after his younger sibling was convicted of 11 sexual offences against the boy, including two of sexual activity with a child, in a case where the ITV star gave evidence.

In a statement released by his lawyer after Timothy was found guilty, TV presenter Phillip said: "My overwhelming concern is and has always been for the wellbeing of the victim and his family. I hope that their privacy will now be respected.

"If any crime had ever been confessed to me by my brother, I would have acted immediately to protect the victim and their family.

"These are despicable crimes, and I welcome the guilty verdicts. As far as I am concerned, I no longer have a brother."

Holly Willoughby was unable to support pal Phillip on his first day back after being struck down with an illness.

The 42-year-old presenter took to her Instagram Story on Sunday (April 16) to share an announcement with her followers.

"Hi, just to let you know, I may be away for the rest of the week as I have Shingles," Holly wrote.

"I'll be back as soon as I'm better. Huge love," she added.

Phillip and Holly present This Morning from Monday to Thursday every week, with Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary taking over duties on Fridays.

The Saturdays singer Rochelle was on hand to fill in for Holly and joined Phillip in the studio for the first episode of the week.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 10am
