Sam (James Hooton) and Lydia (Karen Blick) are set for some heartbreaking news this Christmas in Emmerdale as the family faces losing another member.
It’s been a tough year for these Dingles, with Sam being impaled during the storm and having a touch-and-go recovery, and now having a difficult time with Samson refusing to acknowledge his baby daughter.
The latter is proving the toughest, with the couple torn between spending time with their grandchild and not destroying their relationship with their son.
They’re also coping with one of their own being behind bars for something he didn’t actually do for once, and the loss of Faith and Liv.
But their resilience is set to be tested further when they learn they are about lose another beloved member of the family.
Rhona is the one to inform them of the terrible truth – their last pig is sick and needs to be put down. The couple take it terribly, poor Spamela is like a child to them. She entered the household in 2019 to cheer them up after the brutal murder of their favourite pig Gloria.
Spamela quickly became a family favourite, rocking around the Dingle farm in a onesie. RIP to a legend.
And what’s a Dingle without a pig? It’s like a plant without sunlight, a car without fuel, DFS without a sale.
How will the family move forward through grief at a time like this? Oh well, at least that’s their Christmas Day bacon rolls sorted.
