STACEY Dooley has been 'too busy' to pick up her MBE she won two years ago.
The 33-year-old documentary filmmaker won the award back in 2018 for her amazing work in broadcasting which has highlighted important issues surrounding domestic violence, sex-trafficking and mental health.
During Susannah Constantine's latest podcast My Wardrobe Malfunction, the Strictly Come Dancing winner revealed that she's just not had the chance to rearrange a time to go and collect the Member of the Order of the British Empire medal because of her hectic regime.
"I was meant to collect the medal but I didn’t have time. I was working and I never kind of rearranged, so I must sort that out. It’s mad, isn’t it," she confessed.
However 2018 was a very busy year for the journalist as she put a lot of time and effort into training for the 16th series of BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing – which she ended up winning with professional dance partner Kevin Clifton, 37.
Not only did she win the series, but she also found love with Kevin – despite having boyfriend Sam Tucknott back at home.
Pals said Stacey’s strong connection with charismatic Kevin caused issues within her relationship with Sam — though there is no suggestion of any romance between the Strictly couple.
A source said: “Before Stacey took part in the show she was resolute that she wouldn’t fall victim to the curse of Strictly and that she and Sam were tight.
“However, he found it tough that she would spend hours and hours dancing in the arms of another man and away from home.
“It definitely didn’t help their relationship, especially towards the end.
“And it didn’t help that Stacey and Kevin remained friendly after the series.
“During filming in December Sam had been vocal about her dancing with a single man and was really paranoid that they were going to split because of the show, with rumours he had become insanely jealous — even though she insisted there was nothing for him to worry about.”
Earlier this month The Sun on Sunday revealed that although Kevin decided to quit Strictly to pursue other projects, while Stacey is currently on a £250,000 a year deal with the BBC.
One source said: “ITV are very interested in signing Kevin and Stacey. Their view is that they would make a great presenting couple for the channel.
“Stacey obviously has a great deal of presenting experience from her time at the BBC, and Kevin has performed well in TV screen tests in the past.
“They would hope bringing them on board would attract BBC viewers, and they seem to both appeal to a wide audience, which is another advantage.
“Obviously it would be difficult to tempt them over – particularly Stacey – given her long term relationship with the channel.
“But it’s very much a case of watch this space.”
