Since their first meeting in The Force Awakens, some Star Wars fans have been wondering if there is more than meets the eye to Finn and Poe’s relationship. Gay romance fan art between the two has proven popular online, but will they become a couple for real in The Rise of Skywalker? Well, an official new Star Wars book may have teased just that.
Spotted by Screen Rant, new canon novel Resistance Reborn features a scene where Poe asks Finn if he’s interested romantically in Rey or Rose.
The conversation goes: “Poe hesitated before he asked, ‘So the two of you aren’t…’
“Finn looked puzzled at first, but then his expression shifted to amusement. “‘No, nothing like that. Just friends.’
“‘And Rose?’
“‘Oh.’ Finn shook his head no. ‘We talked about it, and Crait was… a moment. But that’s it. Friends there, too.’”

- Star Wars: Finn and Poe gay romance in Episode 9: Exciting news
For all we know this could be Poe finding out if he has any competition for Finn’s affections.
Poe star Oscar Issac addressed the rumours of a Star Wars gay romance around the release of The Last Jedi.
Asked by Collider what the speculation “means” to him, the actor said: “Well what it means to me is that people can see themselves in a hero like this, in a movie like this, which I love.
“Not only LGBT [fans] but Latinos… there’s a representation out there for that.”
He added: “As to actually seeing how that manifests in Poe – that isn’t necessarily going to be a clear story point in this one [Episode VIII].
“But as an actor, I’m very open to those possible storylines and I don’t think it needs to be nailed down in any kind of traditional way.”
Meanwhile, Finn star John Boyega told Metro US at the time: “I think that Oscar is always looking at me with love in his eyes, and I guess that the fans saw it.
“And then they realized that either he needs to chill or come out.”

Another official new Star Wars 9 book appears to have teased the return of Anakin and Obi-Wan’s Force ghosts for the first time since Return of the Jedi.
Star Wars: The Secrets of the Jedi by Marc Sumerak chronicles the history of the Jedi Order and the book is written from Luke Skywalker’s perspective.
The official Star Wars website have shared the cover of a few double-page spreads as teasers, with one bit of text sending alarm bells ringing.
One page is called Light Force Abilities, which includes a subsection titled Spirits.
Here Luke writes of Obi-Wan, Anakin, Qui-Gon and Yoda becoming Force ghosts after their deaths.
And here we get a glimpse of some intriguing new information that will presumably tie-in with The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.
The text reads: “At first, I only heard Obi-Wan’s voice in my head, but I later discovered that he could manifest as a fully visible apparition and even interact with the physical world. That knowledge was then passed down to a select few, including Obi-Wan, Yoda and my father. Their spirits guided me for many years but vanished when I shut myself off from the Force. It’s a relief to feel their presence again after all this time.”
Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker is released in UK cinemas on December 19, 2019.
