The Reckoning official trailer
The Reckoning star Steve Coogan, who plays Jimmy Savile, admitted that whilst he wanted to show how horrific Savile’s crimes were, there were some scenes he felt too uncomfortable to perform and needed to change.
Jimmy Savile committed heinous crimes throughout his 50-year career and often committed them in plain sight such as Stoke Mandeville Hospital and on set of his BBC show Jim’ll Fix it.
When live on air or being interviewed, Savile made no attempt to hide that fact he often looked at his young fans sexually, but always maintained that he had never committed a crime in his life.
There were reports from thousands that Savile had sexually assaulted them whilst alone with him, having their childhood dreams crushed.
Steve Coogan opened up about having to film the horrific scenes and admitted that when filming Savile in the hospital morgue, he had to change a shot as he was “uncomfortable with it”.

When discussing a scene where the BBC allude to Savile sexually assaulting a dead body, Steve told Express.co.uk and other press: “[With] scenes like that there is a lot of discussion around it.
“But you come to a collective agreement on things, people ask my opinion and say what do you think of this?
“That morgue scene, there was a certain shot that they wanted to do that I didn’t want to do, it was just a detail that I wasn’t comfortable with.
“So I said, I had a conversation with the direction and we came to an agreement on what was the most appropriate way to depict it.

“You make what you think is the best decision and that doesn’t mean that is the only decision.
“Personally, I’m really comfortable from my point of view because I am associated with this and have to put my name to it, all the decisions made were the best ones were made.”
The synopsis of the first episode reads: “In the early 60s, Jimmy Savile became famous as a DJ in the dance halls of Leeds and Manchester.
“He ran sell-out dances for young people – but was also able to exploit this position. In an effort to legitimise his reputation, Savile took advantage of his celebrity status to pursue a voluntary role at his local hospital, Leeds General Infirmary.
“And his popularity as a DJ led the BBC to ask him to host their new TV show Top of the Pops.
The Reckoning begins Monday, October 9 from 9pm on BBC One.
