Strictly Come Dancing bosses are said to be lining up 80s "national treasure" Shakin' Stevens – real name Mike Barratt – for the upcoming series of the show.
It's thought that show producers have been keen to get the musician on the show for years, and are hopeful that this could be the year that it happens.
Shakin' Stevens has recently returned to the charts with his first new album in seven years, Re-set, and Strictly bosses think this may increase the likelihood of the singer making his dancefloor debut.
An inside source told the Daily Star: "Bosses have spent years trying to get Shakey on the show and are hopeful that he’ll finally say yes.
"Shakey is a consider[ed] a national treasure thanks to that big Christmas hit and is certain to be popular with viewers. Bosses are hoping he can be the older contestant who surprises everyone. His hip shaking on the Top of the Pops is legendary!"
OK! has contacted Strictly and a representative for Shakin' Stevens for comment.
Shakin' Stevens was one of the biggest music stars of the 1980s, and is now perhaps best known for his number one single Merry Christmas Everyone.
He has three children and five grandchildren, whom he shares with ex-wife Carole Dunn, and he is now married to his former manager Sue Davies.
In 2010, he suffered a cardiac arrest, which led to a complete lifestyle overhaul, as he gave up smoking and drinking, and began doing more exercise to remain fit and health.
He recently opened up about this, telling the MailOnline: "I had a heart attack in July 2010. I’d been picking up bags of stones, and I knew something was wrong. I fell asleep and didn’t wake up. Luckily my wife Sue gave me CPR and called the ambulance.
"It was a huge wake-up call: I gave up smoking and drinking, and I started looking into my family history, which I knew nothing about. What I discovered was shocking."
Other rumoured contestants for this year's Strictly include Loose Women panellist Sophie Morgan and Emma and Matt Willis, who would be the first couple to compete in the same series.
Revealing that BBC bosses are considering Emma and Matt for Strictly, an insider told The Sun: "Strictly are desperate to get a celebrity couple on the show and Emma and Matt were in negotiations for the last series. It was virtually a done deal but then Matt was cast in the theatre show 2:22 A Ghost Story and they had to back out.
"Strictly would love to have them back on board for next year’s show and Emma and Matt have said if they can make it work they would jump at the chance.
"Bosses on the show are always looking at ways to keep the format fresh and they loved the idea of having a celebrity couple competing against one another."
