The Chase’s Shaun Wallace received a sweet surprise when he appeared on Lorraine Kelly's self-titled ITV show today and received a brilliant gift from the presenter.
Shaun was on the programme to chat about the current series of Beat The Chasers.
While he and his fellow Chasers are incredibly competitive, there's no bad blood between them and he told the host that they're all “just one big happy family” and all “get along really well”.
As they were happily chatting, Shaun shared a sad tale with Lorraine as he recalled an event that took place 10 years ago.
Shaun had been booked in to talk to schoolkids about his life and career and as he made his way to the event, he carried a box of things to show the children including a glass trophy.
Unfortunately, as he picked up the box, he dropped everything – causing the trophy to smash into little pieces.
Lorraine was saddened by the story, but brilliantly had a special surprise waiting.
She cheekily said: “I wonder if there’s something we can do about that…”
Suddenly, the back of the set opened to reveal a brand new trophy, which she presented to an ecstatic Shaun.
Appearing to have tears in his eyes, he held the trophy dearly, thanking Lorraine for the gift.
But this wasn’t the only revelation shared on today’s show. Shaun also described himself as a “goal model”.
Probed further on what that means, he explained: “It’s about setting goals for myself people can aspire to.
He added: “If you put someone on a pedestal and they fall from a great height, it's hard to put them back together again.”
Shaun also went into detail about his main career as a barrister, explaining: “I’ve got a really supportive set of clients at my chambers, when I’m not supporting them, it’s back to my day job.”
Shaun’s law firm, Great James Street Chambers, even tweeted their support of him ahead of Lorraine. They wrote: “Our wonderful Shaun Wallace flying the GJS flag on Lorraine this morning. Shaun has always maintained that he is a barrister first and his tv career is a bonus.
“Being able to combine his professional commitments and celebrity lifestyle is something that we are very proud of.”
Lorraine is on every weekday at 9am on ITV.
