The Goes Wrong Show cast: Who stars in new BBC comedy series?

The Goes Wrong Show continues on BBC One tonight (January 3) with a brand-new series created by Mischief Theatre. The show aired its Christmas special back on December 23 and will now begin its five episode run on the channel. For fans of the new show, here’s everything you need to know about the cast of the show, including some insight from the actors themselves.

Who is in the cast of The Goes Wrong Show?

Robert – Henry Lewis

Many of the original cast and writing crew of the stage shows appear in the new series, including Henry Lewis as Robert.

In an interview with Express.co.uk and other media, Lewis revealed how Robert is one of the most over-the-top characters in the show.

Speaking of taking on Father Christmas in one of the episodes, he said: “Robert is always good in a role where he really performs.”

Lewis is also part of the writing team for the show along with Henry Shields and Jonathan Sayer, who have all been developing the show for a long time.

He added: “It’s really nice to see months and months of work to finally come together and done. It’s been pretty cool.”

Sandra – Charlie Russell

Charlie Russell plays Sandra on the show, part of the theatre company’s eccentric cast of characters.

Russell has also appeared in series like Thirteen and And Then There Were None as well as her work with Mischief Theatre.

Speaking about first playing Sandra, Russell said: “I had just finished drama school and it was a really challenging and wonderful experience.

“And I had learned all the things that I was doing badly as an actor so when it came to do the first Show That Goes Wrong, I thought ‘I’ll just do all of the things I was told not to do.’”

Vanessa – Bryony Corrigan

Bryony Corrigan is one of the newest additions to the cast and she plays Vanessa in the series of sketch shows.

Corrigan is also known from her appearances in previous outings A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong and Peter Pan Goes Wrong, as well as appearing in Good Omens as Virtue Device.

Chris – Henry Shields

Henry Shields stars in the show as Chris, the amiable organiser of Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society who introduces each show.

Aside from his work with Mischief Theatre, Shields also appeared on an episode of Holby City back in 2013.

Max – Dave Hearn

Dave Hearn appears as Max, who often takes on the role of the amiable romantic lead who is thrilled to be on stage.

At the recent launch of the series, Hearn revealed how he developed his character from laughing a lot on stage at inappropriate moments, just as Max does.

Hearn joked: “I’m actually really bad at laughing quite a lot on stage and generally being quite disrespectful.

“So it was in a couple of rehearsals where I started laughing and the director was just like, ‘This is good, keep going.’”

Annie – Nancy Zamit

Nancy Zamit is Annie in the series after being part of the Mischief Theatre Company from the beginning.

Ahead of the new series, the actor spoke about the great dynamic between the cast on set.

She said: “We have been doing this for so long together now. I think the most amazing thing about it is we’re getting to making a TV show with our friends.”

Dennis – Jonathan Sayer

Jonathan Sayer appears as Dennis in the series, as well as acting as a writer on the show.

The remaining cast members of the new series are Greg Tannahill as Jonathan and Chris Leask as Trevor.

The Goes Wrong Show continues tonight on BBC One at 8:30pm
