The Great British Menu will be back on our screens in just a few hours’ time with a brand new theme for the competitors of the BBC Two show to adjust to. This year, the theme of all the dishes will be children’s literature to celebrate the 150th anniversary of legendary author Charles Dickens’ death. The show will then end with a grand banquet to mark the occasion and an overall champion of champions will be picked. Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s judging panel.
Who are the judges of The Great British Menu 2020?
Oliver Peyton
Restauranteur Oliver Peyton is one of the three original judges of The Great British Menu, having been on the show since it first started in 2006.
He first opened two nightclubs when he was younger but went on to open restaurants the Atlantic Bar & Grill in 1994, Coast in 1995 and then Mash and Air in Manchester.
Peyton then launched Peyton and Byrne bakeries in various locations but unfortunately went into administration in 2016.
He was also a mentor on the 2012 TV show Recipe for Success and then went on to release two cooking books.

She regularly hosts a number of food-based television and radio shows and co-runs Andi’s restaurant in London with Kelly Miles.
In 2006 she hosted BBC’s The Truth About Food and the following year she hosted her own show with Neneh Cherry which was called Neneh and Andi Dish It Up on BBC Two.

As well as these three judges, the chefs’ food will be taste-tested by a special guest from the world of children’s literature each week.
These judges will include comedian and children’s author David Baddiel, teen novelists Malorie Blackman and Jacqueline Wilson and award-winning writer of The Gruffalo, Julia Donaldson.
There will also be even more competition as each region will see four chefs compete instead of the usual three for the chance to cook at the prestigious event celebrating the life of Charles Dickens and children’s literature as a whole.
