Grey’s Anatomy’s midseason finale is tonight, which means you’re going to have to wait over two months for the show to come back on the air. But the good news is that when it does return on January 23, it will have a new time slot, which means the show can be a lot sexier.
In the new year, Station 19 will take the 8 p.m. slot, and Grey’s will get that 9 p.m. slot. The Grey’s Anatomy showrunner, Krista Vernoff, said that’s actually a good thing for the ~steam~ factor of the show.
“There are different rules for a 9 p.m. show than there are for an 8 p.m. show, and we hope to take advantage of those rules,” she told Deadline. “Grey’s was definitely allowed to be a sexier show when it was on at 9:00. So we are excited by the change back to our original (Thursday) time slot.”
This is highly important news, because with all these hot-ass doctors, the show has been a little lacking in the sexy stuff in the past few seasons. It makes sense, because Grey’s switched to that new slot back in 2014.
There are way more restrictions for that time slot because it’s designated as, like, family viewing. That means way less bath time scenes, way more operating-room time. It is a show about doctors, but come on!
It will be interesting to see what Grey’s does with this new flexibility, considering a lot of the couples of this season are currently on the rocks. Meredith and DeLuca might be done for good, and Richard and Catherine are in a weird spot right now too. Teddy and Owen are in the midst of parenting a newborn, and Amelia and Link are pregnant. So! Now looks like the perfect time for a new hot couple on the show. Stay tuned.
