Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) has been very focused on connecting with and helping Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) in Coronation Street, but one thing he doesn’t think about enough is Fiz Stape’s (Jennie McAlpine) opinion on bringing a recovering drug addict into their home.
Fiz is currently working in Norwich after being offered a new job with very good pay. In reality, the exit happened to coincide with Jennie McAlpine’s maternity leave.
Tyrone is tasked with having a difficult chat with Fiz soon after trouble with Cassie. The newcomer entered Tyrone’s life a few weeks ago and revealed that she’s his biological mother, convinced that she could live a new life free from drugs after months in rehab.

Sadly, that wasn’t the case as in recent episodes of the ITV soap, Cassie was rushed to hospital after overdosing on drugs again.
Coming up, Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) tells Tyrone that he needs to call Fiz and tell her that Hope (Isabella Flanagan) found Cassie after she overdosed.
Evelyn then warns Tyrone and says that if he doesn’t tell Fiz, she will.
But what will her reaction be?
Given that Jennie McAlpine has now had her baby, Fiz will eventually return to Weatherfield and when she does, how will she get on with her new mother in law?
‘He’s really trying to have an open mind and open heart’, Alan Halsall said.
‘But also he does have Evelyn’s warning and advice or in the back of his mind so is always a bit curious, but he wants it to work.
‘I think that’s the thing, it is not so much what he thinks as what he wants. He really wants it to work more than anything and therefore he’s willing to dismiss things because he kind of needs it or wants it so badly to work.’
