Who is Lizzo?

Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Jefferson, is an American singer and rapper, best known for her songs Good as Hell and Truth Hurts.

The 27-year-old was born in Detroit, Michigan, USA but later moved to Houston, Texas, USA where she began performing.

She has also lived in Minneapolis, which is where her music career as a recording artist began to take off.

In 2014, Time named her one of the fourteen music artist to watch, following the release of her studio album, Lizzobangers.

She has also released an album titled Big Grrrl Small World in 2015 and her EP Coconut Oil, which came out in 2016.

However, it was not until 2019 that the she became mainstream, with the release of her third studio album, Cuz I Love You.

The album peaked inside the top five of the Billboard 200 and included singles, Juice and Tempo.

What’s more, the deluxe version of the album included her 2017 single Truth Hurts, which went viral and topped the Billboard Hot 100 two years after its release.

Does Lizzo write her own music?

Yes, in fact, she wrote her hit Truth Hurts about an ex-boyfriend and revealed in November he had tried to win her back after she scored a US No.1.

Telling the crowd at her concert in London’s O2 Academy Brixton on November 7, she explained how her former lover messaged her on Halloween day.

She told the audience: “I ain’t heard from his a** in 365 days and then he wanted to write me a f***ing love letter.

“I was so shocked that he contacted me but you know who else contacted me? His side b***h.

“So you know what I do? Delete, delete, delete. Block, block, block.”

Who is Lizzo dating?

The musician is thought to be single; however, she has admitted she is looking for a potential partner.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight following her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 2019, she said: “My DMs are more poppin’ than my p***y, I’ll tell you that much.

“This guy tried to holler at me at the bar last night, and for some odd reason, I just wasn’t feeling it.”

Referring to her first No.1 single, she added: “No one tried to holler at me before all this sh*t, so if you’re trying to holler at me now, I don’t trust it.

“There’s gotta be something real about you, or you gotta be fine as hell, either or. No shade to the guy last night but he didn’t meet that criteria.”

“I definitely understand more and more why famous people be f*cking because it’s such an interesting world,” she continued.

“I think it’s hard to understand what it’s like to have a connection with somebody outside of all of this sh*t.”
