LUKE Trotman is one of the latest Love Island contestants to enter the villa and fans will see him take two girls on a date on his first day (January 23, 2020).
Like previous Love Island contestants in the past, Luke has some famous roots similar to Tommy Fury and Sophie Piper as his mum Beverley appeared in The X Factor back in 2007.
Who is Love Island Luke Trotman's mum?
Beverley Trotman is a singer and former primary school teacher from Luton.
In his interview before the show, Luke revealed his claim to fame is his mum, who performed on X-factor in 2007 and finished in sixth place.
He said: "She's called Beverley Trotman and came sixth so I appeared on TV cheering her on in the audience."
What was her X Factor journey?
The 2007 series of X Factor was won by Leon Jackson, with Welshman Rhydian Roberts as runner-up and Simon Cowell’s group Same Difference in third.
Beverley was in the over 25s category, with judge Louis Walsh as her mentor.
She began her journey by performing Aretha Franklin's Respect in the auditions, which impressed judges Simon, Louis and Danii Minogue enough to send her through to the next round.
Her most memorable performance in the competition was arguably her version of Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing.
During her stint on the popular signing show, the ex-teacher brought a tear to the eye of host Dermot O'Leary, saying that her being on stage could be an inspiration the kids in her class.
"If I can be that little bit of inspiration for them, on that stage, how amazing is that?" she said emotionally.
Beverley made it to the sixth week of the competition, being eliminated with a deadlock vote after she performed Without You by Badfinger.
What is Beverley Trotman doing now?
Thirteen years after competing on The X Factor, Beverley's passion for singing is still going strong.
50-year-old Beverley took part in a sell-out tour across the country in 2008 after competing on the show.
In 2009, she released a gospel album called The Voice of Hope and a special remix edition of the same album in 2010.
Her son Luke, who is a semi-professional footballer for Darlington FC, also revealed that his mum had "done some musicals" since appearing on X Factor, such as performing in Fame the Musical at the Bristol Hippodrome, also in 2009.
She is now part of The Kingdom Choir, who are best known for performing at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018.
Unfortunately for Beverley, she was not part of the choir on that day.
