Will 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' Survive If Kourtney Kardashian Quits?

By now, fans of Keeping Up with the Kardashians are reeling with the news that Kourtney Kardashian is officially taking a step back from the show. Having been a staple on the show since it premiered back in 2007, fans were shocked to find out the eldest KarJenner is pulling back from the show that made her famous. But why is the mom of three stepping back from the show, and will it survive if she quits?

Is Kourtney Kardashian quitting the show

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kourtney Kardashian revealed that she was planning to take a step back from the show in order to spend more time with her three children, Mason, Penelope, and Reign Disick. “I just decided to spend more time as a mom and put more of my energy there, but I’m not saying goodbye. But I think you’ll have to see more of it on the new season, season 18, which isn’t airing yet but it’s being filmed..currently in this room,” the 40-year-old shared coyly.

How do Kim Kardashian West and Khloè Kardashian feel

But how do Kourtney Kardashian’s sisters feel about her taking a step back from Keeping Up with the Kardashians? And do they feel the show can survive if she leaves? According to Khloè, the answer is a resounding yes. “We definitely love Kourtney and we will miss Kourtney and whatever she decides to do, but people come, people go all the time in this family. We feel like it’s a revolving door, so Kourtney might leave this week, she’ll be back. They all come back,” she said. Shortly after that, she and Kim Kardashian West began joking about a new spin-off show, Kim and Khloè take Calabassas where they’d live in a condo together with their children.

Rob Kardashian was the first to quit

Khloè Kardashian is right. Other family members have quit the show before and it suffered no real consequences. The KarJenner’s brother, Rob Kardashian, famously quit Keeping Up with the Kardashians back in 2016. Though he went on to have his own spin-off television series with Blac Chyna (his ex-fiancèe and mother to his child, Dream Kardashian) the show was canceled when the pair called off their engagement.

Lately, rumors have been flying that Rob Kardashian will be making a comeback to the reality show. He certainly has been more visible in the public eyes as of late. His younger sister, Kendall Jenner, declared that her brother’s appearance at her 24th birthday/Halloween party was the ultimate gift. Additionally, some fans are convinced that Rob Kardashian is romantically involved with Kylie Jenner’s long-time best friend, Anastasia (Stassie) Karanikolaou aka Stassie Baby as the two have been spotted together recently.

But despite his absence from the show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians remains very successful. Which is why it’s fair to say that the show will likely remain popular even if Kourtney Kardashian does decide to make her official exit from the show. Not to mention the fact, that out of all the KarJenner sisters, the eldest is the least popular.

The least popular KarJenner sister

On Instagram alone, Kourtney Kardashian boasts 83 million follows. While that number is substantial, it pales in comparison to her sisters’. The closest person in number is Khloe Kardashian who has 17 million more followers than her sister for a grand total of 100 million followers. The KKW beauty owner, on the other hand, who (for the time being) holds the top spot for most popular KarJenner, has a whopping 151.3 million followers, which is 68.3 million more than her older sister.

It’s fair to say that even without Kourtney Kardashian’s presence, the show will survive. This is not to say that if she eventually leaves the show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians won’t suffer a loss in viewership, but her absence alone won’t cause the show to be canceled. But, despite all the talk of the Poosh.com owner taking a step back from the show, we doubt she’ll be leaving for good anytime soon. After all, she managed to promote season 18 of the show in the same breath as announcing she was pulling back from it. One thing we know for sure, Kris Jenner has trained her children well in terms of self-promotion.
