Vin Diesel has been teasing fans about the new xXx film, suggesting big names could be joining the team. Earlier this year Diesel even asked fans to suggest names of people who they would like to see in the next instalment of the xXx franchise. With Deepika Padukone already on board, there is a whole list of stars who could join the crew.
This year, Diesel put out a post on Instagram, which showed a picture of him and Deepika Padukone in full xXx gear, with the caption: “Heading into a xXx meeting this weekend…
“Who would you like to see added to the xXx League?”
Fans immediately started responding, with names as varied as Dave Bautista, Tom Hardy and Leonardo DiCaprio making the list.
Along with those A-list celebs, fans were also keen to see Hobbs and Shaw stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Idris Elba on the cast list.
And moving into superhero territory, Aquaman star Jason Momoa was high on fans’ lists, as well as Thor star Chris Hemsworth and megastar Matt Damon.
Even less likely are not-so-obvious picks Sean Penn and Edward Norton, neither of whom are known for taking part in such movies.
Fans were also keen to see people like Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot make the transition from the DCEU, while Keanu Reeves was also on their list of hopefuls (though he is likely busy with the new Matrix film and more John Wick movies.)
But there are also a whole host of names who could be rejoining the cast from xXx Return of Xander Cage, including Ruby Rose as Adele and Nina Dobrev as shy weapons specialist Becky.
Donnie Yen, who played the assassin-turned-team-player Xiang could also return, as well as Kris Wu, who played Cage’s supporter Nicks, and Rory McCann as getaway driver Torch.
In the xXx franchise, people are regularly coming back from the dead, so it is possible Samuel L Jackson could return as Gibbons, after faking his own death and showing up at his own funeral.
With him, Toni Collette’s evil CIA agent-turned-killer Jane Make could return, despite being seen to fall from her death in the previous movie.
Along with those names are even more, including Ice Cube, who plays xXx agent Darius Stone, and pro footballer Neymar, who was being recruited for a new xXx team by Gibbons at the stat of the film.
So far, there have been some names confirmed, including Jay Chou and Zoe Zhang, who were cast in 2018 in undisclosed roles.
Jay is a famed Taiwanese actress/pop star, while Zoe and new recruit Roy Wang are Chinese actors.
Director DJ Caruso is directing again, while Japanese rockstar Yoshiki is reported to score the soundtrack.
At present, no production or release dates have been revealed, but fingers crossed fans will not have to wait for long.
