Zoe Kravitz is reportedly set to enchant our screens as Catwoman, as it’s claimed the actress has been cast to star alongside Robert Pattinson the upcoming The Batman.
The Big Little Lies actress is said to have bagged the role after taking part in a screen test earlier this month and it seems producers wasted no time in snapping her up.
According to several publications including The Hollywood Reporter, Zoe managed to fend off stiff competition from the likes of Ana de Armas, Ella Balinska and Eiza Gonzalez, who all reportedly sat down for a table read with R-Patz the first week of October.
Producers are said to have narrowed down their options to two actresses last week and Zoe, 30, reportedly scooped the coveted spot.
Catwoman, aka Selina Kyle, famously has a love-hate relationship with Batman quite literally – sometimes their enemies, sometimes they’re lovers.
The DC Comics character has been played by some of Hollywood’s most favourite darlings, with Michelle Pfeiffer taking on the role in 1992’s Batman Returns, while Halle Berry portrayed the iconic character in 2004.
Anne Hathaway did the honours in The Dark Knight Rises back in 2012.
Matt Reeves is set to direct the anticipated blockbuster after taking over from Ben Affleck who stepped down in 2017. Ben, 47, also departed his role as Batman after Justice League leaving a big space for Reeves to pick a new Caped Crusader.
R-Patz was confirmed as the new Batman in May and admitted it was a dream come true to don Batman’s famous cape.
Speaking to Variety, Robert said: ‘I’d had Batman in my mind for a while.
‘It’s such an absurd thing to say. I sort of had an idea to do it, and I’d been prodding Matt [Reeves]. I kept asking to meet him.’
Although, he was ‘furious’ when the news leaked as he hadn’t even auditioned for the role.
‘When that thing leaked, I was f*****g furious. Everyone was so upset. Everyone was panicking from my team. I sort of thought that had blown up the whole thing,’ he said.
The Batman is set to hit cinemas on 25 June 2021.
