The series stars the titular comedian George Lopez, who plays a fictionalised version of himself and revolves around his life at work and raising his family at home.

After George Lopez came to an end, Lopez went onto star alongside Jessica Simpson in the comedy-drama Major Movie Star in 2008.

From 2009 until 2010, she played EMT helicopter pilot Marisa Benz in Trauma.

She then went on to star as Jamie Batista in Showtime’s Dexter.

In 2016, she landed the role of a forensic scientist, Ella Lopez on the Fox series Netflix.

Speaking to Den of Geek, Lopez opened up about her audition process.

She said: “When I read the script for a Latina scientist because you don’t see a lot of Latinas in STEM, that’s the first thing that got me really excited about it, and her sense of humour and dorkiness.

“I got to the audition, and I went for it! I did dance moves and unapologetically put my arms up in the air and I thought, “you know what, I’m just going to go for it!’

“I just want to know I left it all on the table, and then it’s out of my control.”
