A tribute museum is in the works for late electronic dance music producer Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, which is slated to open in his hometown of Stockholm, Sweden, in 2021.
Dubbed “The Avicii Experience,” the museum will put on display various memorabilia from the beloved musician, including never-before-seen pictures and videos, previously unreleased songs, and early versions of his chart-topping single, “Levels,” among other attractions.
The museum will celebrate “Tim’s journey from a reclusive music nerd to a celebrated superstar, from his boyhood room where it all started to the Los Angeles studio where the biggest hits were created,” the organizers stated.
It will be housed within “Space,” the “digital culture center” that will soon be opened in one of Stockholm’s many city squares, Sergels Torg, and will feature gaming experiences, music, and content creation.
Proceeds from “The Avicii Experience” will benefit the Tim Bergling Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that was established by the singer’s parents, Klas Bergling and Anki Lidén, after their son took his own life in April of 2018.
“I’ve gotten much more informed after Tim. That’s natural,” Bergling shared with Billboard Dance in May. “I really didn’t know much about suicide. It’s so complicated and unpredictable regarding what people might potentially be suicidal — that’s almost impossible to see.”
The date of the opening of the museum has yet to be revealed.
