Carol Vorderman: Countdown star’s ‘furry’ outfit causes a stir with Channel 5 co-star

Carol Vorderman is a huge rugby fan and was in Japan for the World Cup last year to support Wales. And today the Countdown legend was on hand to give an insight into the Wasps RFC game against the Northampton Saints.

The 59-year-old wrapped up for the cold weather at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, but it was her “furry” ensemble that seemingly had her co-stars talking.

The star shared a number of snaps of her outfit while backstage on Channel 5 Sport in view of her 421,000 Twitter followers.

Wearing her blonde tresses down in a natural wave, Carol looked chic as she teamed up with David Flatman and Mark Durden-Smith.

She opted for a camouflage-print jacket which came with an oversized furry beige trim, that ensured she was well insulated for the outside shoot.

The mother-of-two polished off her attire with skinny black jeans and a matching jumper, as well as heeled boots.

The small screen favourite revealed how pundit David, 39, couldn’t stop “stroking” her due to his “coat envy”.

Carol tweeted: “On ⁦@Channel5Sport later doing my best ⁦@StevieV1874 Brummie impression (I’d give myself a solid 6/10).

“@davidflatman defo has ‘coat envy’ for my furry thing… couldn’t stop stroking it could he ⁦@MarkDurdenSmith? ⁦@premrugby @WaspsRugby.”(sic)

She was left seemingly amused after the official Wasps account quipped in response: “Not after your job is she @davidflatman?”

Carol had initially asked for advice as she gushed about her “great weekend so far”, hours after her weekly instalment on BBC Radio Wales.

The star wrote: “Heading off to see @WaspsRugby play @SaintsRugby this aftie… Advice needed…

“What kind of screaming/bouncing is right when you don’t actually support either side? ‘Go Glaws’ @gloucesterrugby doesn’t seem right.”(sic)

It was then that the CEO of Wasps, Stephen Vaughan, jokingly told her: “Just behave yourself. I’ve warned the stewards (and bar staff) you’re here today.”

She then replied: “Oops… The boss @StevieV1874 knows me too well!!! Ahem @WaspsRugby.”

Carol was given the A-list treatment on arrival, as she got to take in her surroundings and shared pictures from inside the dressing room and pitch side.

“On a little tour of ⁦@RicohArena for ⁦@WaspsRugby V ⁦@SaintsRugby this afternoon. It’s HUUUUUGGGGEEEE… With my mate ⁦@StevieV1874 (new CEO) and mischief buddy ⁦@alexinaholt,”(sic) she added.

Meanwhile, it comes just days after Carol Vorderman shared a health update after being “poorly”.

She previously told fans she had been suffering with bronchitis, an infection of the main airways of the lungs, causing them to become irritated and inflamed, according to the NHS.

But earlier this week the BBC host appeared in better spirits as she said her lungs were “getting better”.

Carol is often sharing her day-to-day life with her fans and Thursday was no different as she revealed she had enjoyed a nice long walk.
