Curtis Pritchard admits struggling with body image issues after being fat shamed

Love Island hunk Curtis Pritchard has opened up about his body image struggles and says being in the public eye has brought more pressures about his weight.

The 23-year-old was fat shamed during his time in the Love Island villa, where he gained more than two stone in just eight weeks.

It resulted in producers needing to buy him more clothes and Curtis was mocked for piling on the pounds by cruel online trolls.

Since leaving the villa, Curtis has started to shed the pounds after returning to his usual intensive dance training and being snapped up as the new ambassador for WW, the company formerly known as Weight Watchers.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, he revealed: “I’ve wanted to get a healthy lifestyle because my eating has been up and down all the time.

“I’ve been fat-shamed in the villa, and this and that.

“Obviously it's not very nice, it does affect you slightly, and that shouldn’t be happening in this day and age but, it was sort of good for me… it means I can live that healthy lifestyle now.”

Describing what he went through while in the villa as “belittling” and “bullying”, he is now hoping to open a dialogue about male body image.

The ballroom dancer said: “Men I would say do cover up issues about weight a lot more than women.

"I would say it makes you feel emasculated basically, it just makes you feel small."
