Elton John recently took to Instagram to share a personal note in honor of reaching thirty years of sobriety.
“Reflecting on the most magical day having celebrated my 30th Sobriety Birthday,” the 73-year-old singer wrote alongside a series of pictures marking his success, including anniversary cards, sobriety pins, and even a brightly colored cake in the shape of the number 30.
“I’m truly a blessed man,” he continued. “If I hadn’t finally taken the big step of asking for help 30 years ago, I’d be dead.”
The music legend’s battles against addiction were captured in the biopic Rocketman, which starred Taron Egerton as the singer.
In the same post, he also went on to thank all the people in his life who have “inspired and supported me along the way.”
