Geri Horner seemed to have the time of her life watching the Lionesses bring home the Euro 2022 win, but some fans were left unimpressed after seeing her pose with Tory minister Nadine Dorries in one photo.
The Spice Girls legend watched England score a sensational 2-1 victory against Germany, and was seen celebrating in various snaps – including one of her hugging the Culture Secretary and Conservative MP, who voted against same-sex marriage in 2013.
Ms Dorries shared the photo of Geri with her arms wrapped around her, and referenced her Spice Girls roots, writing: ‘Girl power radiating from Wembley tonight.’
The photo didn’t land well with some fans, with one responding: ‘Geri really slammed the left and shook her self to the right huh.’
‘Geri has reached peak Tory. V upsetting,’ another said, while one more added: ‘Finding out ginger Geri Halliwell Spice is a massive Tory , has ruined my day.’
‘Geri Halliwell actively embracing a woman who voted against gay marriage, who was only recently demonising the trans community, is 100% not shocking. Geraldine, delete your poorly sung song about George, he’d want nothing to do with you or your bigoted mates,’ one more said.

Other unimpressed social media users referenced an old tweet of Geri’s in which she referred to Margaret Thatcher as ‘our 1st Lady of girl power’ following her death, saying that they weren’t surprised about the popstar’s seeming support of Ms Dorries.
Geri deleted the Thatcher tweet, posted in 2013, and apologised for causing any offence – but then stood by her original comments.
She later said: ‘I was so confused and overwhelmed by some of the feedback I received that I took my tweet down and for that I was called spineless.
“Did I even really know enough about Margaret Thatcher?’ she added. ‘Was I just trying to be relevant? She had obviously upset a lot of people.’
Geri went on: ‘Now I realise that I do admire a woman, whether she is right or wrong, regardless of her opinions. She had the courage to stand by her convictions. Not like me. I look at my behaviour, which exposed how weak I was under fire, not like Margaret Thatcher. Rest in peace.’
