Martin Roberts has been a firm favourite on Homes Under The Hammer since he made his debut in 2003 alongside Lucy Alexander. Following the latter’s exit from the property show in 2016, Martin was joined by presenters Dion Dublin and Martel Maxwell.

It has since been announced that Jacqui Joseph and Tommy Walsh will be joining the trio as new additions to Homes Under The Hammer.

The exciting news has since caused a stir among social media users who have quizzed if Martin is “moving onto new pastures”.

The small-screen star regularly takes to the micro-blogging site for Ask Martin Mondays, where he shares behind the scenes details about Homes Under The Hammer.

The 57-year-old took the opportunity to respond to a social media user who asked if he was leaving the programme.

The person in question penned: “I see that Homes Under The Hammer is getting two new presenters. That will take you to five presenters. How do you think it will work or are they putting you out to pasture? #AskMartinMonday.”

Martin admitted that although it has been a “challenging time” filming for the show in the current pandemic he has no plans to leave the BBC show.

In view of his 25,700 Twitter followers, Martin said: “Thank you for your support.

“No, I’m not out to pasture. A lot of it is down to the challenges of filming in the current climate.”

The social media user replied: “Phew! That’s a relief.”

Another person quizzed: “Saw the new presenters announced the other day – tell me you’re not going?”

“I’m not going,” Martin assured.

Last week, it was announced that Homes Under The Hammer will undergo a show shake-up with an additional two new presenters being added to the roster.

Jacqui and Tommy are currently filming for the upcoming BBC One series and will make their screen debuts early next year.

Both hosts have backgrounds in design and construction.

Tommy is best known for appearing on Ground Force between 1997 to 2005 while Jacqui Joseph has been a presenter on Money For Nothing.

Jacqui said: “I’m so thrilled and excited to be joining Homes Under The Hammer, it’s a series that I‘ve watched for many years.

“Property and interior design are real passions of mine, so I am really looking forward to meeting buyers and hearing their plans as well as joining what is a fantastic team of presenters.”

Tommy said: “I’m looking forward to joining the Homes Under The Hammer team, and hope that my knowledge and experience will be a useful addition.

“I really enjoy the show and coincidentally the house I share with my family was purchased at auction and we all love it, so hopefully I can help both contributors and viewers with the choices they make too.”

Homes Under The Hammer airs weekdays on BBC One at 10am.
