Janette Manrara, 37, has taken on a new role on Strictly Come Dancing as the host of It Takes Two, after eight years of dancing on the show. But the change means the dancer will no longer work alongside her husband Aljaz Skorjanec, 31, in this year’s series and compete for the Glitterball Trophy.
Janette confessed they were both left wondering how they would cope when Aljaz had to temporarily move out for the programme.
She made the confession as she spoke to co-star Dianne Buswell on her podcast, Di’s Salon.
The latter said: “You are together all the time, but you have so many hours of the day where you’re with your celebrity…”
Janette explained: “But then depending how long you’re in the competition it’s only a couple months of the year max.
“And then the whole rest of the year we’re back to what for us is normal, which is being together 24/7.
“I think in a really weird way it is so normal for us because we started that way, we met each other touring together, we met each other hanging out with the same friends, we met each other on the stage, doing the same things all the time…
“So because our relationship has always been from day one us together 24/7, that’s another conversation we’re having even now, ‘How are we going to cope as a couple with such a huge change?’
“Because we’re not going to be doing things together the same way anymore.
“We’re not even going to be doing the same kind of job.
“So I guess in a nice way we’ll have even more to talk about at the end of the day.”
This Saturday, the couple are set to reunite on-screen as they take part in The Hit List Strictly Special, a music-based quiz show with a £10,000 charity jackpot.
Janette had previously spoken out about her relationship and the woes of going long distance with Aljaz.
Last year, the couple were forced to separate due to coronavirus restrictions.
Each celebrity and pro partner had to bubble up together for 11 weeks and were not allowed to mix with the rest of the contestants.
Janette said the current situation is better as she gets to come home to Aljaz.
She told mirror.co.uk: “Last year we did 11 weeks apart to do the series, I couldn’t see him at all, touch him or hug him or anything.
“That was hard when we were at the studio on Friday and Saturday and I couldn’t see him. It was worse, but now I can.
“Now even when we’re apart we come home to each other.”
Janette and Aljaz met at a dance studio in London back in 2009.
After six years of dating, the couple got engaged in 2015 and finally tied the knot in 2017.
