Following the death of YouTuber Corey La Barrie, Ink Master star Daniel Silva has been arrested for murder.
It was reported last night Corey was killed in a car crash in Los Angeles on Sunday evening (10 May) which was his 25th birthday.
His mother, Lissa Burton, confirmed the news in an Instagram post on Monday as fellow YouTubers mourned the loss.
Now it’s been confirmed by the Los Angeles Police Department Silva has been arrested following the incident.
In a statement, the LAPD stated they have arrested the 27-year-old Los Angeles resident, who was driving the vehicle.
‘The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division announce the arrest of Daniel Joseph Silva, a 27-year-old driver and resident of Los Angeles for murder,’ the statement read.
It follows the fatal incident, which occurred 9.39 pm on Sunday when a 2020 McLaren 600LT was traveling eastbound on Huston Street ‘at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control’.
The statement continued: ‘Driver then ran off the road and collided with a stop sign and a tree on the northeast corner of Huston Street and Carpenter Avenue.’
According to authorities, Silva had tried to flee: ‘The driver of the McLaren exited the vehicle and attempted to leave the scene but was stopped by citizens who came to render aid. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.’
Both Corey and Silva were taken to a local hospital for treatment following the incident, however the YouTuber later succumbed to his injuries.
Silva, who has a massive following online, is most known for appearing on season 10 of Ink Masters, which is a competition-based TV show for tattoo artists.
He has over one million followers on Instagram, and more than 230,000 YouTube subscribers.
Corey’s death was confirmed by his family overnight, with mother sharing a message that read: ‘My heart breaks right now, on my sons 25 birthday today… The accident killed him instantly.’
Lissa added: ‘No words can describe the sadness I feel in loosening a child. It just feels so unreal and I’m overwhelmed with grief.
‘I love you so much Corey and will miss you so so much. It’s just so unfair [sic].’
Corey’s brother, Jarrad, also addressed the sad news and wrote in an Instagram post: ‘This isn’t something I thought I would ever have to sit here and type out for a very long time or what I wanna do right now but everyone deserves to know, my brother Corey passed away last night in a car accident… I don’t how I’m supposed to do this without you.
‘I miss you so much already, this isn’t fair. Thank you for always being the best big brother I could ask for I love you so f***ing much life’s never gonna be the same without you R.I.P. P.S say hi to grandad and grandma for me. I love you.’
Corey boasted more than 335,000 subscribers to his personal YouTube channel but he was also known as one-half of a YouTube duo alongside Crawford Collins. Together, they had an audience of over 104,000.
