Jane McDonald, 58, has thanked fans for their support following her Loose Women appearance yesterday, as she admitted it was hard to talk about her loss in public for the first time. The singer’s fiancé Eddie Rothe died earlier this year after a short battle with lung cancer, leaving her completely devastated.
On Twitter, she typed today: “I’d like to say a huge thank you for all the messages of support I received after speaking about losing my beloved Ed on Loose Women yesterday.
“It was incredibly tough to speak about his loss in public for the first time. Your support has meant so much to me…
“I know that many of you are in a similar situation and my heart goes out to you.
“Whilst there are still difficult days, there are many better days to come. Love Jane. @loosewomen,” she added.
In response, her fans said they were happy to see her make a return to the panel show as they sent her messages of support.
@bernadette67_replied: “@TheJaneMcDonald Gorgeous lady and so great to see you back at loose women. Lost my husband aged 42 Jane, so completely understand how you feel. I too decided not to be sad for the rest of my life and it does get easier I promise.”
@cjbigbird typed: “@TheJaneMcDonald Jane you are so brave and so inspirational for doing the interview so soon. I cried with you. Ed will be forever in your heart and mind. You are a beautiful lady with a beautiful smile. Remember it’s ok to feel sad you’ve suffered a great loss. Stay strong.”
While @KimsChance1 wrote: “You were amazing, so sorry for your loss, it’s heartbreaking knowing how much pain you’re suffering, I met you when you surprised me on your Jane & friends show a few years ago, you surprised me with a cruise after I lost my links to #sepsis you’re a very special lady.”
The cruising expert – who was part of the Loose Women panel on and off between 2004 and 2014 – was reunited with former co-stars Carol McGiffin and Kaye Adams as she sat down for a moving interview yesterday.
Paying a tearful tribute to her late fiancé, Jane said: “I don’t want to feel sad for the rest of my life because that wasn’t Ed. Ed was golden, smiley, he was beautiful.
“Thirteen years of absolute bliss. That’s how I’m getting through it.
“I’m not thinking of the last six months because it was horrendous.”

“I’m thinking of how grateful I’ve been for such a wonderful…” she continued, before breaking off and becoming emotional.
Jane announced that Ed had died in March, revealing that he had “been battling lung cancer for the last few months”.
During her Loose Women interview, Jane revealed that she had nursed Ed through his final months.
“I had to have a crash course in nursing. Ryan, the lovely district nurse, – thank you Ryan – came and showed me how to do everything,” she said.
“Because it was lung cancer, they were so afraid of him getting Covid that I took over everything.”
“And that was a privilege,” Jane continued. “At first I thought, ‘How am I going to do that?’. But then you get a strength when you’re nursing your loved one and it really is a privilege.
“I changed all the dressings and cared for him and I nursed him and I’m glad I did.”
Viewers were extremely moved by the emotional interview.
