Khloe Kardashian Admits Coparenting with Tristan Thompson Is 'Hard': What She's Learned From Kourtney

Khloe Kardashian and her ex, Tristan Thompson, have had to navigate past his cheating scandal and their breakup to successfully coparent their daughter, True. Luckily for Kardashian, she has had some excellent examples of co-parenting to follow.

Kardashian wants Thompson to be part of True’s life

Despite the circumstances of their breakup, Kardashian is intent on making sure that Thompson remains a part of their daughter’s life. She admits it’s not easy, but it’s important to her to coparent with her ex.

In her interview for the On Purpose With Jay Shetty podcast, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star explained how it would be “easier” for her to cut ties with Thompson but she has to think of True.

She shared: “I want to show my daughter that it’s okay andit’s a beautiful thing to also forgive her dad. He’s a great person. Maybe himand I weren’t compatible or whatever [in] that way, but that’s okay. Nobody’sgonna die here, and I always want True to be surrounded by love.”

“I want her to always feel just bliss”

Kardashian wants to maintain a healthy environment for True, explaining: “And I know babies feel energy… and I just want her to always feel just bliss, as much as I can. I know it’s not realistic every day, but as much as I can control it, I feel like it’s my mama-bear job to control it.”

Kardashian did admit that coparenting is “hard,” adding, “it’s not easy for me. You know, it would be easier for me to keep my daughter away and be like, ‘No, ’cause you hurt me’” — but Thompson “never hurt True.”

She explained, “Him and I have our own relationship, and then Tristan and True have theirs, and I will never come in between that. Idon’t believe in that.”

She follows her sister’s model of coparenting success

Kardashian doesn’t have to look further than her sister, Kourtney Kardashian, and her ex Scott Disick, who have mastered coparenting their kids Reign, Mason, and Penelope.

Kardashian noted: “As long as it’s not hurting you in any way… if this was hindering Kourtney’s growth or if it hinders my growth, then you also have to put yourself first because you are, in fact, taking care of your children.”

She added: “But if it’s not hindering you or hurting you inany way, I think it’s important to work on all relationships.”

Earlier this year, Kardashian told Us Weekly that she looks to Kourtney and Disick as role models, noting, “I definitely take a lot of learning [and] tips from Scott and Kourtney. They do such a seamless job at it, but I’m still… fresh.”

Disick shared the secret of their success, telling Us Weekly: “The truth is, my problems shouldn’t affect the kids. Just because their mother and I couldn’t make it as a perfect, romantic couple shouldn’t have anything to do with the kids. They don’t deserve our mistakes, so we figured out a way.”

He added: “We still need to be as honest and as good to eachother as if we were together. Let’s raise these children together and that’sit. We live a few miles apart and it’s simple.”
