Lorraine Kelly has revealed she's returning to her regularly scheduled ITV programme next week after recovering from Covid-19.
The 62 year old, who recently led emotional tributes to the late Deborah James in a heartbreaking documentary, took to her Instagram feed to share the news with her 499,000 followers.
Sharing a snap of her negative lateral flow test, she explained in the caption: "NEGATIVE!! Finally – a nasty one but feeling fine now."
She went on to share that she will be back on her show in 18 July as she wrote: "See you all on Monday 9am @lorraine @itv HUGE thanks to @carolvorders for holding the fort. I’ve missed you all. #covid #negative #backtowork #happy #feelingbetter".
Fans immediately flocked to the comments section to share their joy over her return as one person wrote: "So happy you’re feeling better LORRAINE I will be glad to see you on Monday we’ve all missed you x," followed by a red heart emoji.
Another shared: "Be glad to see you back so glad you are better xxx," with a thumbs up emoji, as a third added: "Freedom …. We missed you on our screens big time … great to hear you’re well.."
Lorraine announced she had caught coronavirus on 11 July as she wrote on Twitter: “Well the Covid has finally got me and I tested positive at the weekend. Thanks to the vaccine it’s not too bad and I hope to be back at work very soon."
She also praised her last-minute replacement and added: “Huge thanks to @carolvorders who will be hosting @lorraine until I’m back.”
As Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls passed over to Carol in the Lorraine studio, Susanna said: "I didn't think you were in for our programme today."
Carol revealed: “Well, we didn't think so either, but sadly Lorraine has caught the dreaded you know what, so I'm sitting in for a few days, which I'm delighted to do."
"But we are wishing her a speedy recovery," Carol said, as Susanna echoed: "Get well soon Lorraine."
Susanna added: "In the meantime you're doing a fabulous job, looking fabulous Carol," as Carol joked: "I didn't look like this at 5am this morning, that's for sure!"
On Instagram later on the same day, Lorraine posted a photo of her two sweet dogs and once again praised the vaccine.
