Love Island fans spot huge clue one couple secretly knew each other before villa

Love Island has delivered its fair share of shockers and plot twists over the years. However, the latest season is no exception, with fans buzzing about the hidden connection between two contestants, Jess Harding and Sammy Root.

The on-off couple, who recently took their relationship to the next level, have never explicitly mentioned knowing each other before the villa. But a recent discovery on social media has left everyone questioning if there's more to their story than meets the eye.

A savvy Love Island devotee spotted a telling Instagram activity that set rumours spinning. A snapshot of Jess that her friend posted had received a "like" from none other than Sammy himself, months before they entered the Love Island villa.

This had fans wondering if the two lovebirds had crossed paths before the show's cameras started rolling. To add fuel to the fire, eagle-eyed fans also noticed that Jess was following one of Sammy's friends on the platform.

One fan wrote on the Reddit thread: “I wonder if they know this or if its a complete surprise to them because they didn't seem to recognize each other at all when first meeting each other on their date. But it seems like their social circles intertwine somehow so I guess introducing each other to each others friends is going to be pretty easy for them.”

Another added: “Love Island keeps making the UK look like it's 3 houses and a pub.”

A third chimed in: “Haha this happened to my friend and her boyfriend. The “first time” they met was actually the second time and there was a group photograph of them together but they didn’t realise.”

The journey of Jess and Sammy in the villa has been anything but smooth sailing. Sammy's head turned more than once as he tried to find his perfect match, while Jess experienced her fair share of relationship highs and lows. However, now together, their bond has grown stronger. After a passionate night together in the hideaway, Jess and Sammy made the bold move of officially becoming boyfriend and girlfriend.

During the grand gesture, Sammy confessed: "I feel like I don't get feelings easy, and like, it's big for me. Even just being in the Hideaway last night, being in there, just the two of us… it felt good."

"Obviously we've been here for a while now. Six weeks in here is like six months on the outside and I feel like I know you inside and out. I really like how things are going."

He then asked the other Islanders, who were hiding on the terrace, to ask Jess the big question for him as she screamed excitedly: "Yes!"

However, following Sunday’s 'meet the parents' episode, opinions from friends back home may have planted seeds of doubt in Jess’ head as she asked her mom: "What are the girls thinking of him? Do they like him?" To which her mom responded: "I’m not really sure at the moment."
