Dolly Parton, 76, has spoken up about arguments she has with her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, in an unearthed interview. The singer’s beau rarely makes a public appearance and avoids the spotlight.
Dolly has been married to Carl for nearly 60 years, and over that time has given details here and there about moments in their marriage.
She spoke to the Rolling Stone nearly two decades ago and talked about how her and Carl very rarely argue, but often have little falling outs here and there.
She discussed the time when the couple were building their house and had a brief spat about the sink.
Dolly said: “We’ve never had a serious argument. Oh, we get a little aggravated like any couple.
“The hardest time was when we built our house: ‘Carl, I don’t like that faucet. Well, then why don’t you do it yourself?’”
The singer added that “they never fight” and would be terrified if Carl ever lashed out at her.
She said: “I swear to God. We get pi**y, but it would scare me to death if Carl ever screamed at me.”
The two also have playful fights when it comes to the nicknames they call each other.
Dolly revealed that Carl calls her “catfish”, because according to him, Dolly is “all mouth and no brains.”
The songwriter explained that they two never call each other by their first names, and that it makes him angry when she addresses him as Carl.
“It makes him fee-urious when I call him Carl,” she said. (sic)
“Maybe once a year I call him Carl and it seems so cold that it really upsets him. Then he gets back by calling me Dolly, which cuts me to the quick.”
At the time, she explained that the two have a “special” relationship and divorce is absolutely not on the cards any time soon.
In full, Dolly said: “We have a real special relationship, and they’ll have to wait a long, long time for our divorce.
“We’re so totally open and free that whatever happens, happens.”
As of 2022, Dolly and Carl have been married for almost 56 years.
On Jan 19, Dolly celebrated her 76th birthday, and shared an Instagram post to her 4.7 million followers of herself dressed up in a birthday suit with fans.
She posted a picture of herself looking sparkly and glamorous in a fuchsia pink blazer and skirt set.
She completed the look with a blowout hairdo and shiny red lipstick.
In the caption, Dolly wrote: “Just hangin’ out in my birthday suit!”(sic)
Fellow Country singer, Margo Price wrote: “Cutest. Happy birthday you living legend.”
