Megan McKenna, 27, has been wowing the judges and viewers alike with her flawless routines on the ITV series X Factor: Celebrity 2019. The former The Only Way Is Essex star has now spoken candidly about the impact of body dysmorphia and how it pushed her to keep having her lips injected.

The country singer had her lip fillers removed in order to be taken more seriously in her career.

Speaking about the decision on Heart FM, Megan said she felt the lip fillers “looked ridiculous” after she went through all of her pictures on Instagram.

“And then when I took a step back… I don’t know what it was, I woke up one day and I was like ‘oh my god I look ridiculous’, she explained.

“I went through all my pictures on my Instagram and I was like oh my god I’m embarrassed.”

She added: “I was embarrassed, I was mortified. I don’t know what it was.”

Earlier this year, the reality TV star said she felt “liberated” once she had the lip filler removed.

Megan said: “I feel liberated, 100 per cent. I finally feel comfortable in myself. I’m so over that life! It’s boring.

“This girl that everyone is seeing has always been me.”

“I’ve just never had the chance to break free and show that side of me because I’ve been on TV shows that are a lot of pressure and drama.”

The ex The Only Way Is Essex star added that as well as her lips, she has cut back on her use of make-up and hair products.

“My lifestyle has completely changed too,” she went on to say.

“I’m taking loads of vitamins, drinking herbal teas, I steam every single day.

The reality star told OK! Magazine: “Look, I’ve had a few arguments on TV.

“But anybody who has an argument on TV is never going to come across well. But I feel like I’m really happy in myself now and that makes a difference in the way you approach things and react.”

She went on to say she is now able to laugh at herself when it comes to her wilder reality television days.

She continued: “And like I’ve said, I’ve grown up a lot. I’ve just got to laugh back at myself and think, God what a t*t [Laughs].“

The X Factor: Celebrity 2019 continues tonight on ITV at 7.40pm.
