Monty Don: Gardeners’ World host taken aback after fan questions if signed book is fake

Gardeners’ World: Monty Don gives advice for growing gherkins

Gardeners’ World presenter Monty Don is known for being a horticultural expert and often shares his gardening tips in his popular books. The BBC favourite has now been quizzed about his most recent release, My Garden World, after a Twitter user assumed the host’s signature inside was fake.

The person had been gifted Monty’s release for Christmas, but felt the need to query the lucky addition.

They wrote: “@TheMontyDon… the good lady wife got me a signed bookplate for Christmas, can you confirm it’s genuine please?”

The 65-year-old appeared taken aback by the question posed, as he assured the reader the signed copy was indeed genuine.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, Monty confirmed he had signed multiple bookplates.

In view of his 207,000 followers, the BBC presenter replied: “Yes of course it is. I signed about a thousand of those bookplates.

“But why on earth do you think anyone might sell a fake signature through a conventional retail outlet?”

The social media user explained the gift was purchased through a third-party site.

Monty has released a series of books throughout the years to inspire readers to perfect their gardens.

The much-loved gardening expert’s book, My Garden World, is dedicated to his dog Nigel who sadly died last year.

Monty’s beloved pet regularly made an appearance on his gardening show.

The TV personality is also the proud owner of a Yorkshire terrier named Patti and retriever Nellie.

The BBC host opened up about his late pooch on Instagram, as he recalled working on the volume with his pooches nearby.
