Motsi Mabuse: ‘It’s important to speak up’ Strictly star hits back at ‘judging’ comments

Motsi Mabuse, 39, has hit back after one follower accused her of “judging” while expressing her views on mental health during the coronavirus lockdown. The dancer, who is Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse’s older sister, told her 46,000 Twitter followers why she felt it was “important” to speak up during this uncertain time.

Motsi, who is a judge on Germany’s version of Strictly Come Dancing Let’s Dance, decided to express her thoughts over the current lockdown and the impact it has had on people’s mental health.

However, one of her followers disagreed with her point of view, and directly told the dancer how she was “sitting in judgement”.

This comes after Motsi wrote online: “I think in a few years we will be discussing the mental effects of Corona situation (quarantine ) on people!

“Its just unbelievable what’s going on !! Once again mental health is completely being ignored and people having meltdowns are being stigmatized!”

However, soon after the Let’s Dance judge shared her outlook on the situation, a Twitter user told the star how they very much disagreed.

Responding to the professional dancer, they wrote: “So not true. It is being talked about.

“There are not resources to address everything. What do you propose instead of sitting in judgement?”

The Twitter user continued: “There are so many issues domestic abuse child abuse mental health resources are stretched and so many people are doing their best in an unprecedented situation.”(sic)

The star then replied, and told her follower how she was “not judging” but “being empathetic”.

Motsi wrote: “Not judging I am noticing and being empathetic which seems to me the missing word in all this.”
