Nicki Minaj and Tekashi 6ix9ine released a video for their collaboration, “Trollz,” last Friday, a week after the originally scheduled date.
The delay of the song, which is a sequel to the duo’s 2018 single “FEFE,” was due to the countrywide protests over the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
“They get nervous when it’s Nicki on the roster/ Somebody ushered this n—a into a clinic/ My flow’s still sick, I ain’t talkin’ a pandemic,” raps Minaj, clad in a rainbow-colored bikini and taking a bubble bath. “I write my own lyrics, a lot of these b—-es gimmicks/They study Nicki style, now all of them want to mimic.”
“I know you don’t like me, you wanna fight me/ You don’t want no problems at your party, don’t invite me,” sings Tekashi. “I don’t worry ’bout you n—as, please stop talking about me/ Always talking ’bout me ’cause you looking for the clouty.”
The visual shows the singers sharing cotton candy and cereal from a giant bowl. Nicki is also seen pouring milk on Tekashi’s head and the latter toting a giant cash stack and adjusting his ankle monitor.
Tekashi’s previous song was “Gooba,” which was released after he came out of prison. He is currently under house arrest, serving the remainder of his sentence.
Nicki said on Instagram that “a portion of the proceeds from #Trollz including merch items, will be going directly to The Bail Project Inc. [@bailproject].”
“The fund provides free bail assistance to low-income individuals who can’t afford to pay bail while awaiting their trial,” she wrote. “We want to protect and support the thousands of brave people working on the front lines of social justice, using their voices to demand AN END to the targeting and killing of Black Americans by the police #BlackLivesMatter.”
