SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Lizzy Jagger admits she models herself on Mick

SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Lizzy Jagger admits that she models herself on father Mick and takes inspiration for her make-up from his 1970s looks

Model Lizzy Jagger, eldest daughter of Sir Mick and Jerry Hall, credits her Rolling Stone father, 76, as her ultimate role model — even when it comes to face paint.

‘I do get a lot of inspiration from his make-up looks from the 1970s (above right), which he doesn’t really go for any more,’ she says. ‘He’s a bit more reserved with his make-up looks on stage these days.’

Happy to have inherited his ‘great hair’, she also compliments her mother.

‘She gives great advice,’ Lizzy, 35, says of Hall. ‘She’s a great teacher.’

The unstoppable Barbara Taylor Bradford, who’s sold more than 88 million books, publishes her 34th novel, In The Lion’s Den, tomorrow. But last night Barbara, 86, insisted she remains ‘a journalist down to the very bottom of my toes’ at a dinner at London’s Corinthia Hotel celebrating her appointment as the first ambassador for the Women In Journalism group.

Recounting how she joined the Yorkshire Evening Post aged 15, Barbara recalled she had been ‘the only girl in the reporters’ room’ but had the support of a ‘sharp-witted mentor’ — the late, great Keith Waterhouse.

While the Duke of York suffers the repercussions of his disastrous Newsnight interview about his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, his ex-wife and daughters attended the memorial of family friend and financier Tim Hoare without him.

The Duchess of York, 60, arrived with Princess Beatrice, 31, and Eugenie, 29, at the service at St Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge this week amid reports that Prince Charles is expected to hold talks with his younger brother at Clarence House in London. Yesterday I revealed that Sarah and Beatrice had cautioned Andrew — who is to step back from all 230 of his patronages — against doing the interview, while his then private secretary Amanda Thirsk was more keen on him taking part.

The family was close to multi-millionaire Tim, who died two months ago.

His daughter Cate, 26, once shared a flat in New York with Eugenie.

Speaking at the British Curry Awards at Battersea Evolution, the 59-year-old star revealed her passion for cosy Asian suppers with the 47-year-old actor. ‘Since I’ve met Danny I’ve gained 8lb — and he loves every extra pound,’ she tells me.

The Prime Minister toyed with working at the firm after leaving Oxford, but answered every question at his interview in Latin; no job offer was forthcoming. ‘McKinsey doesn’t do humour,’ the interviewer subsequently explained.

Sober Sabrina can only drink the finest fizz

‘I stopped drinking to see if I could get rid of the intolerance,’ she tells me. ‘I seem to be OK with really good champagne and spirits because they don’t have much yeast, but still a no-go on wine and beer.’

Uncle’s shocking attack on ‘prima donna’ Meghan: Ex-diplomat, 80, who helped launch Duchess’s career subjects her to highly personal broadside writes SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE

By Sebastian Shakespeare for The Daily Mail and Karen Ruiz for Dailymail.com

Spare a thought for the Duchess of Sussex, who has been subjected to yet another highly personal attack from a member of her family.

And this time it’s by her uncle, former U.S. diplomat Mike Markle, who first helped her on her way to becoming a stateswoman.

He used his influence to secure her a prestigious internship as a junior press officer at the American embassy in Argentina when she was 20 and considering a career in international relations.

‘Meghan has climbed socially and left us behind — that’s how I feel,’ says Mike, 80, the elder brother of her father, Thomas.

‘I think that’s what happens when you’re “underclass” and trying to rise above the reality of your situation.’

Speaking to Woman magazine from his home on a caravan park in Florida, Mike shed light on the alleged rivalry between Prince Harry’s wife and the Duchess of Cambridge.

‘Coming from her background, she may have a chip on her shoulder,’ he says of Meghan.

‘It could be that that’s part of the problem she’s having with her sister-in-law. Meghan is immature in some ways.

‘I feel that because of the way she acts — not only towards family members, but other people.’

He blames Meghan’s father for her strong character.

‘It could be that she’s bossy towards staff because she’s been spoilt by my brother,’ Mike says.

‘He doted on her a lot — more than he did his other children.

‘Tom spent more time with her and helped her in school and stuff like that.

‘Tom has more of a rapport with her than with the rest of the kids. That’s a problem.

‘She’s a prima donna because he treated her really well.’

Mike wasn’t invited to Meghan’s second wedding when she married Prince Harry.

‘She didn’t invite a lot of people, so I don’t feel that bad, she didn’t discriminate against me.

‘It would have been nice for her to have some of her family, but I don’t understand her, I don’t communicate with her because I understand they don’t accept mail at the Palace.

‘I don’t know what I’d say to her if I could write to her. It’s up to her to make the first move as far as I’m concerned.’

He added that he had helped her out at a time when others hadn’t.

‘I’ve probably done more for her than most,’ he said. ‘I personally talked to the ambassador in Argentina for her. I helped her out and I didn’t ask for anything in return.

‘If she wants to have a closer relationship that’s fine by me, it has to come from her. She is the one that has thrown up the boundaries, not me’.

The Duchess has been described in the past as ‘being difficult’ and palace sources had previously said that this was the reason many of her aides had left in such quick succession.

Despite this former British TV personality and actress Jameela Jamil said Meghan is a strong woman asserting her power and stands against bullies, putting them in their place.

Meghan’s estranged uncle Mike, 80, told DailyMail.com he doesn’t ‘understand’ the way she’s ‘her treated family.’  He suffers from Parkinson’s Disease and frail heart

However, Mike disagrees with this take on his niece and said that in some ways she is ‘immature’.

He added: ‘I feel that not only because of the way she acts with family members but other people.’ He also praised her father Thomas for her strong character.

And after speaking with DailyMail.com he stated that his brother Fred had also resigned himself to the fact that Meghan has cut them out of her life.

Speaking from his modest trailer-park home in central Florida, he said: ‘I doubt I’ll hear from her again… even though I would like to.’

‘I don’t understand her, the way she’s treated her family. I’m not very fond of it.’

It’s the latest chapter in Meghan’s well-documented estrangement from the Markle side of her family, which includes her father, Mike’s younger brother Thomas Sr, and her half-siblings.

The duchess, pictured with Prince Harry in London last month, is planning a visit to the US at Thanksgiving. Her uncle currently lives in a modest trailer park home in Palm Bay, Florida, and says he’s lost hope he’ll ever hear from his niece again

In an interview around the time of the Duchess’s wedding to Prince Harry last year, Mike expressed his disappointment over not being invited to her Windsor Castle nuptials in May 2018.

Despite suffering from Parkinson’s Disease and a frail heart, Mike said he ‘absolutely’ would have traveled to England to walk his niece down the aisle when her father announced he himself wasn’t fit to make the trip.

‘I thought I would [get an invitation], but anyhow, I didn’t hear from her.’

Meghan is estranged from the majority of her father Thomas’s side of the family, including her dad (in blue) her other uncle Fred (checkered shirt) and her half-siblings

More than a year on from the wedding – in which Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland was the only family member to be invited – Mike said his health continues to fail.

‘I’ve just had a new pacemaker put in, but my Parkinson’s seems to be holding itself in position,’ he said.

‘I haven’t suffered any seizures lately but my hands still shake. I’m not too bad.’

While Mike sadly confesses he also hasn’t heard from Meghan’s father since Thanksgiving, he has a ‘strong relationship’ with his other brother, Fred, who lives two hours north in Sanford, Florida.

Fred began a small church in Florida in the 1980s which no longer has any followers, and prefers to be known as Bishop Dismas F. Markle.

Despite living a reclusive life, Mike explains: ‘I talk to Fred once a month. Our relationship is strong. He never changes. We don’t talk about things to do with Meghan anymore. Fred doesn’t like much to talk about other family members.’

Mike and his brother Fred (pictured) who both live in Florida, are part of the Markle side of the family from which Meghan is estranged. Fred Markle, also known as Bishop Dismas F. Markle, is known to live a reclusive life in Sanford, Florida

Meanwhile, the duchess and her husband Harry have been rumored to be planning a trip to the US to celebrate their first Thanksgiving together.

Los Angeles-born Meghan will jet across the pond just in time for November 28 to celebrate Turkey Day with the former actress’ yoga instructor mother Doria.

‘The duke and duchess have a full schedule of engagements and commitments until mid-November, after which they will be taking some much-needed family time,’ a royal source told the Sunday Times.

Following the LA trip, the family will return to the UK to spend the rest of the holiday season with Queen Elizabeth II in keeping with the tradition of Christmas at Sandringham in Norfolk.

In new ITV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, released last month, Meghan candidly spoke about the pressures of being in the spotlight and admitted she felt ‘vulnerable’ during her pregnancy

The duchess’s uncle Mike admitted he was disappointed he wasn’t invited to her wedding last May and said he would have happily traveled to the UK to walk her down the aisle after her father wasn’t fit to do so

The holiday break follows the release of Harry and Meghan’s ITV documentary last month in which the duchess candidly spoke about the pressures of being in the spotlight and admitted to feeling ‘vulnerable’ during her pregnancy.

Meghan has since received an outpouring of support from tens of thousands of people on Twitter after her interview discussing the hardships of motherhood.

#WeLoveYouMeghan’ became the top trending topic on the social media platform, with users offering positive messages in the wake of the Duchess’s recent media scrutiny.

On Thursday, Prince Harry and Meghan are set to attend the 91st Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

The occasion marks the first time the couple have performed an engagement with the Duchess.

Who are Prince Harry’s in-laws?

Meghan Markle is close to her ‘free-spirited’ mother and her ‘thoughtful, inspiring’ father. The actress has written lovingly of her relationship with both.

But it is the star’s extended family who have hit the headlines – with one commentator describing them as a ‘motley collection of individuals who, between them, have a long record of boozing, bust-ups and bankruptcies’.

From a gun crime arrest to a Twitter rant accusing the Suits actress of hypocrisy, Markle’s step-relations have already proved controversial so far.

Here’s a look at Prince Harry’s in-laws:

Doria Ragland joined her daughter and Harry to watch the Invictus Games closing ceremony in Toronto in September

:: MOTHER: Doria Ragland

Miss Markle has described her mother as a ‘free-spirited clinical therapist’.

Writing on her lifestyle blog, she told how her mother took her to visit the slums of Jamaica and to see poverty in Mexico when she was just 10.

‘My mother raised me to be a global citizen, with eyes open to sometimes harsh realities,’ Miss Markle revealed.

Ms Ragland, who is African-American, met Miss Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, on the set of the US soap General Hospital, where he worked as a lighting director when she was a temp in the studio.

‘I like to think he was drawn to her sweet eyes and her Afro, plus their shared love of antiques,’ Miss Markle wrote.

They divorced when Miss Markle was six. Although she lived with her mother in Los Angeles, Miss Markle also spent a great deal of time with her father.

Ms Ragland has worked at a day centre for adults with memory loss and as a yoga therapist.

Ms Ragland, who filed for bankruptcy in 2002, has kept her daughter’s counsel despite the press interest.

She was mentioned in the Kensington Palace statement which attacked the media over its treatment of Markle, saying that her mother was ‘having to struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door’.

Ms Ragland also joined her daughter and Harry to watch the Invictus Games closing ceremony in Toronto in September.

Miss Markle is Thomas Markle’s child from his second marriage to Doria Ragland

:: FATHER: Thomas Wayne Markle

Thomas Markle is a former TV lighting director who worked on shows such as hit sitcom Married… with Children and popular US drama General Hospital.

He won two Emmys for his team’s work on General Hospital and was nominated for countless others.

Miss Markle is his only child from his second marriage to Doria Ragland. He has two older children from his first marriage to Roslyn Markle.

He lives a quiet life in Mexico and filed for bankruptcy in 2016 after reports he failed to pay his debts.

Miss Markle is close to her father, who is of English and German descent, and has described him as hardworking and caring and believing in her ‘grand dream’ of becoming an actress.

She has paid tribute to ‘the blood, sweat and tears this man (who came from so little in a small town of Pennsylvania, where Christmas stockings were filled with oranges, and dinners were potatoes and spam) invested in my future so that I could grow up to have so much’.

She added: ‘It’s safe to say I have always been a daddy’s girl – he taught me how to fish, to appreciate Busby Berkeley films, write thank you notes, and spend my weekends in Little Tokyo eating chicken teriyaki with vegetable tempura.’

She recalled how one Christmas he created a Barbie family for her when they were only sold in sets of white dolls or black dolls

Her new collection of dolls had ‘a black mom doll, a white dad doll, and a child in each color. My dad had taken the sets apart and customized my family’.

When Markle was confronted with a tick box form to fill in at school about her ethnicity and found she did not fit in to just one category, she revealed: ‘My dad said words that will stay with me forever: ‘Draw your own box’.’

Samantha Grant is Miss Markle’s half sister from her father’s first marriage

:: HALF SISTER: Samantha Grant

Samantha Grant – also known as Samantha Markle – describes herself as a writer, a mental health counsellor and a ‘blabbermouth’.

She is Miss Markle’s half sister from her father’s first marriage. A one-time actress and model, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2008 and uses a wheelchair.

Based in Florida, she is 17 years older than Markle and sells jewellery to raise money to fund the feature films she writes.

Twice-divorced, she has three children – Ashleigh, Christopher and Noelle.

Like her father, she once filed for bankruptcy and is estranged from her mother Roslyn – Thomas Markle’s first wife – and brother Thomas Jr.

Ms Grant has been an outspoken critic of Miss Markle since news of her relationship with Harry broke, describing her in interviews as a ‘shallow social climber’ and claiming she shunned her since making it in Hollywood.

‘The royal family would be appalled by what she’s done to her own family,’ she said, before complaining that she was ‘still waiting’ for her wedding invite.

She said Meghan had barely spoken to her she was diagnosed with MS nearly a decade ago, but later maintained she never made the critical comments of her half sibling.

Ms Grant claimed she raised Miss Markle for 12 years while she was growing up in California but her ex-husband, Scott Rasmussen, disputed this.

While she has described Markle as ‘very beautiful and conservative, very real, very giving’, she has also attacked her on Twitter for her lifestyle website The Tig, which Markle has since closed down.

‘There is so much more to focus on in the world than shoes and handbags,’ she said, accusing Miss Markle of ‘hypocrisy’ for presenting herself as a humanitarian activist.

When Markle wrote an article for Time magazine about period poverty across the world for International Women’s Day, Ms Grant retorted: ‘But what did she donate to them to make real change come about? Money for toilets, maxi pads, or just a photo op?’

As rumours Harry was engaged to Markle mounted, Ms Grant, in a television interview with Good Morning Britain, denied there was a rift between her and the actress, describing her as ‘absolutely lovely’, ‘very strong’, very graceful’ – and also ‘very lively’.

She insisted she was not writing a ‘slamming tell-all’ book, but confirmed the work was called The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister.

Thomas Markle Junior, 50, has been bankrupt once and divorced twice

:: HALF BROTHER: Thomas Markle Junior

Thomas Markle Junior, 50, has been bankrupt once, divorced twice and faced trial on gun charges before the case was dropped.

The father-of-two lives in Grants Pass, Oregon, and works as a window fitter.

He was arrested in January 2017 for allegedly holding a gun to his girlfriend Darlene Blount’s head during a drunken argument.

Charged with unlawful use of a dangerous weapon and menacing domestic violence, he faced jailed for up to five years if convicted. The charges were later dismissed. He apologised for his actions and said he was seeking help for his drinking problems.

Mr Markle Jr is not thought to be in contact with his famous half-sister but has given interviews about her and shared family photos with the media.

He claimed Harry had met his girlfriend’s father Thomas, but older sister Samantha denied this, tweeting: ‘My father hates Tom Jr. And will not talk with him. The articles are B.S. My dad has NOT met Harry.’

Thomas has two sons, Tyler and Thomas Markle III, with his ex-wife, florist Tracy Dooley, whom he divorced in 2001. His second marriage, to Iohannes Rawha, ended in 2009.

Rosyln Markle has been complimentary about Miss Markle

:: FATHER’S FIRST WIFE – Roslyn Markle

Rosyln Markle is Thomas Markle’s first wife and mother to Samantha Grant and Thomas Jr

Roslyn has said of her estranged daughter: ‘Everything she has said about Meghan is a lie.’

The 71-year-old lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and has been complimentary about Miss Markle.

‘Meghan is very pretty, very nice, very polished and very classy. I never hear anything but good about her from my son Thomas (Jr),’ she said.

She also has a younger son, Bobby Lucero.
